Curl up with a book and stay for a snack. – Landmark
Fondly referred to as the "big enchilada" by locals, the massive San Antonio Public Library is indeed big and red, but has a lot more to offer than a single tortilla filled with cheese. Mexican architect Ricardo Legoretta produced a building that can't be ignored, which makes sense considering that it's housing an institution dedicated to the furthering of literacy. Browsing is a pleasure in this multi-floored structure, but there is more to do than read. The central branch, as well as its suburban siblings, offers a healthy selection of classes, lectures and story hours; check the library's schedule for specific dates and times.
Rows of computers offer low-speed connections to the internet. There's seldom a wait for access.
