brunch barely average – We had teh omelet bar and there was absolutely nothing great about it. The potatoes on the omelet bar were good, though. The bread was a good change of pace but the server brought it out as were finishing our meal. She also didn't bother to refill tea or coffee. We asked another server.

Best meals I've had in San Antonio – I've read some of the older reviews and was shocked. I've been there twice in the last 2 months and found it to be the best meals that I had while in San Antonio. The service was great and the food was excellent. I was with a group both times and we had several items. Everyone loved it and I cannot think of a single negative. Even the manager was nice enough to call us cabs so that we could return to our hotels. I am anxiously looking forward to my next San Antonio trip just to visit this restaurant again.

Horrible if the server is- Guillermina – The food is ok. But the service is not good. We had a server name Guillermina, she is simply horrible. She is very rude. Twice I had the experience. Messed up with our order but did n't bother to say sorry. Again messed up with the bill, over charger my friend >>>>>>>>> In a word if u sit outside make sure your server is not Guill...

She will make ur lunch/dinner horrible.

Great Interior Mexican food – I can't see why others are so negative. Our dining experience was wonderful. I had the filet with a sherry poblano sauce that was terrific and Terry had a ancho stuffed chicken that he really liked. I didn't like the ancho mashers, but the Mexican rice and baracho beans were up to par. Margaritas were good too. All-in-all it was a good dining experience for someone (me) who is afraid to try things out of the ordinary (standard Tex-Mex). The service could have been a little better -- but we were there on a busy Saturday night -- So I really wouldn't complain, because they did keep asking if we were satisfied with everything. Entonces, fue una buena comida y experiencia!

Please don't walk - run away from this place!! – I can honestly say this was the worst Mexican food I have ever eaten. Hands down. We decided we'd like to have one really good Mexican (or Tex-Mex) meal while on our weekend family getaway to San Antonio. We're from Austin and grew up on home-made Mexican as well as local Tex-Mex fare. I researched a couple of travel websites and decided that El Mirador appeared to fit the bill. We ordered bean and cheese tacos for the kids, chips and queso to share, Sopa de Lima (sounded interesting) and one El Mirador Special to share. The tacos came out early - before the queso. Not a big deal. I wondered what was up when our children who usually devour bean and cheese tacos seemed to just poke at their food. The beans had a strange orange color (canned?) and a sour taste. The beans were spoiled. Then comes the main dish....even before our chips and queso. I split the dish and realized that the piping hot plate was ten times hotter than the room-temperature food. I sent the food back telling the waitress that the beans tasted funny and our food wasn't hot. She was very pleasant but seemed to continue to forget that we had ordered queso.....which turned out to be Velveeta and Ro-tel and the best thing we were served the entire meal. The waitress said that since the beans were made fresh daily it was likely the grease they were refried in that was spoiled. Nice. The replacement "hot" meal was just awful. The enchilada tortillas were tough (old) the rice was flavorless, the beans were still spoiled and the empanada de beef was just mush. Even the crispy taco (who can mess that up?) was a greasy mess. The soup was just okay - a funky sweet and sour flavor that I couldn't put my finger on. I saw another person send theirs back. Perhaps we should have done the same. I noticed several other diners pushing their food around on their plates with the same disgusted look I wore. Please save your money. This meal made a lasting impression on us....not it a good way.

Sorry, you had the experience. It is my neighborhood restaurant. I eat there every week and have never had anything that remotely came close to that experience. the closest to a problem I ever had was the chip guy forgetting to bring the chips. this is not tex-mex food. it is real mexican food. maybe you don't like that taste.

The only good thing was the water – I went there with friends who recommended it. The decor was nice, but a little sparse. There were about 6 tables occupied and a bigger party in the back. There were a number of people that obviously work there running around like army ants. As if it were packed. It wasn't. It took our server about 15 minutes to approach our table and order our drinks. A few minutes later, our drinks arrive. Then she split so fast we were unable to order our food. So waited another 15 minutes. Again, the "workers" sprinting back and forth. No table was being attended on, except the table that knew Spanish. Our so-called-server finally came by and took our food order. We munched on our second bowl of chips and salsa and in desperate need of another drink. I noticed an older couple 2 booths away. They looked unhappy. And I don't think it was a lover's quarrel. They didn't even look at each other. Then the same so-called-server apologized to the guy. Few minutes later, he got up. Bothered. As he exited the door, she got up. Bothered. "Great," I say to myself. We're already getting crappy service, and we haven't received our food yet. AH! Behold! Our food has blessed us with its presence and will make my mouth a happy camper. I dive into my lima soup. I think the last time I made the face I made was when those sour candies came out in the late 80's. My soup was absoultely disgusting. So I offered my friends some so I didn't think I was wrong. They agreed. I couldn't eat it. It was like eating someone else's upchuck packed full of fresh bile after they just ate expired milk. No joke. Needless to say, I did not attempt another slurp. I sat there watching my friends eat. I complained to the so-called-server. She refunded it after my friend went up to the so-called-manager. Who shouldn't be around other people by the way. So, I got my 8 bucks back, ate a corn tortilla that has seen better days, and finished my drink.

What Brunch? – I've been to El Mirador several times for lunch and have never been disappointed but with breaksfast (not brunch) however, it was as if we were at a completely different restaurant. They opened 10 minutes late and the service was slow and left a lot to be desired (long wait, warm coffee). Our waiter initially handed us discontinued menus and only after 10 minutes did he provide the newer-accurate brunchless ones. El Mirador, brunch should be just that: Breakfast/Lunch, with menu items typically seen at both breakfast & lunch. El Mirador, San Antonio has so many wonderful Mexican food - breakfast opportunities. Your lunch and dinner menu are superb however you're out of your league in the AM and should consider discontinuing the marginal breakfast offering. Lastly, this is not brunch, it is breakfast. Your prices should reflect this.
