Eight was too many! – We attempted to take a party of 8 to this restaraunt. Although it was early and they were nearly empty, we were turned away and told that they could not accomodate a party that large. There was no attempt to seat us at adjoining tables, even through there were many available.
Multiple visits, Mixed Feelings – I have eaten at this restaurant on several occasions, and as the title of this review states . . . my feeligns are mixed about this place.
The first time I had eaten here the service was on the mark . . . present but not stifling and there before they were just about needed.
However, more recent visits have deminished my opinion of the service staff.
They are no where to be found, they deliver food much to soon rushing their dining guest towards exiting, and your beverages end up depleted leaving your mouth dry.
But regardless of this the ambience of the lighting and the food are top notch. But be careful of which server serves you.
Dark and lovely – I love eating at J. Alexander's. As for as romantic ambiance... this place is tip top. They always keep the lights down low, but you can still see your food (and your guest). :) The wait staff is always friendly, but the don't hang around as if they've got nothing else to do. The menu is simply delightful. Italian inspired dishes. But, you won't see spaghetti on the list. I think their pasta of choice is ozo? (Forgive me if I spelled that wrong.) Not as loud as Carrabas or Macaroni's.
