Great Burger! – Broadway 50/50 has really great hamburgers. I was a little caught off guard when the hamburger was placed in front of me, but only because it is shaped more like an oval rather than your typical round burger. I had a bacon cheeseburger. It was excellent. The meat was very tender, a little greasy but very tasty, the bacon was cut in thick slices and was very flavorful. The tots were also very good, crispy and piping hot. I really enjoyed the experience at Broadway 50/50.

An even mix of cowboy hats, bikers, business suits, college kids and families who frequent this surprisingly large restaurant/bar make it difficult to categorize the crowd as anything other than neighborhood locals. The decor is easily as eclectic as the clientele: large arched doorways, a wall of taxidermy, '50s style diner booths, a granite and tin bar and wood paneling.
The food is standard bar fare, but good. Burgers are formed by hand and piled high with jalapenos; the cheese fries (perhaps the sole vegetarian option) feature real cheese. This may be the only bar that you go to for the shuffleboard but return for the tater tots.
The New and Improved Broadway 5050 – I have just recently seen a concert on July 8,2005 at 9:30 P.M at the Broadway 5050 and I was utterly impressed! The band that played was called Structure and they really rocked the house! Being in the restaurant business myself, it is easy for me to spot things that most people do not notice. The crowd was a pleasant mixture of late 20's and early 30yr olds. There was no cover charge and I found out that they never charge a cover. I am running out of room so I better end this; but try it for yourself, you will love it.
Fourth Layer of Hell – As a live music venue, the Broadway 5050 is an abomination; one that proves that a bar doesn't have to be on the Riverwalk to be tacky and utterly soulless. The trendier-than-thou crowd cant seem to be bothered by the bands playing, and would rather compare cell phone features or watch sports on TV than pay attention to the music. The sound system isnt very good, and they apparently dont have anyone working there who can adjust the PA. The featured house drinks on the menu are overpriced and silly, and the decor is an ill-advised blend of 1950s diner and Ikea.
I think the story is that the Broadway 5050 was a decent place that flooded out and was closed for two years. What has emerged from that Alamo Heights deluge is a cesspool where a privileged, shallow clientele prattles on vapidly with its collective back to the band.
kewl – Neat and cosistant. Old time flavor with a young vibrant crowd
Just a Bar – Nothing wrong with the place. It's a fine neighborhood bar, but it should not be listed as a sports bar... unless you consider drinking a sport.
