Planned an evening with co workers and was extremely disappointed. upon arriving asked waiter if the establishment honored the Entertainment coupon we had he responded I don't know but will ask manager we saw him approch the manager at register and he came back with the news that the manager would honor the coupon no problem (coupon was for a free appetizer with purchase of two entrees) we ordered our dinner and when dinner arrived two plates were transferred from serving tray to the two diners and then the waiter left leaving the other 4 dinners just sitting on the serving tray we waited about 5 minutes and when he never came back we got up and transferred plates to each diner. waiter shows up about 2 minutes later only to remove serving tray, no explanation or apology. we started our dinner and everything was fine food delicious excpet one of our diners food was cold we could not find our waiter but managed to finally get the attention of a waitress and she took the plate away. it had taken so long to get the attention of anyone that it was to late to wait for a replacement meal (we shared from our plates) trying to get a waiter over to give us our bill took awhile we finally got our bill and went to pay imagine our surprise when the manager (the same one we saw our waiter asking about coupon) refuses to honor coupon saying they do not honor coupons during happy hour. We explained that this is why we asked waiter before ordering and managers response "if you dont like it dont tip the waiter" needless to say we will never dine at this establishment again the saddest part is managements treatment of their employees "if you dont like it dont tip the waiter" While the food is delicious the service and attitude of managemnt leves a bitter taste in anyones palate

worth the drive – This restaurant is awessome the beans and tortillas tase like they came out of my mom's kitchen, I have never had to wait for a table more than 5-10 minutes, I live in fort worth and would drive well over 4 hours for a barbacoa taco, My father in law introduced me and my husband to the restaurant a few years ago and I have been craving it on a weekly basis ever since. Another awesome place to try if you like torres restaurant is Paloma Blanca on Flores street, as a matter of factwe're planning our next trip around it's restaurant hours as we will passing through San Antonio on our way down south.

Overrated, unless you haven't eaten for a week. – The service here is fine, the food is cheap, and the portions are more than hearty. However, I don't really care for this place. When I ordered tacos, I thought I'd get little tacos with chopped up cilantro, salsa, and onion. Also, I thought there's be good salsa on the table. None of the above happened. The house salsa was way mediocre. And when the tacos came, oh my god, there were just HUGE quantities of bare meat inside of (an admittedly tasty) flour tortilla. It was over the top. I had ordered three tacos because I was really hungry, and I thought the tacos would be small. I could barely finish one, and I took the other two home to my dog. On top of everything else, the meat just wasn't all that. There are much better places in San Antonio--try El Mirador or Cascabel's in this same area. Or, if you are really after good tacos, go out to Guajillo's.

Its siren-song may be the tacos, but anyone in search of palate pleasures should let themselves be lured here. – The Food
Torres Taco Haven has been a favorite family-owned southside hangout and breakfast spot for decades. Reliable homemade dishes include traditional caldo and excellent, though oily, gorditas. The small, friendly interior is set up cafe-style, and hasn't changed since opening. True to the southside aesthetic, religious
art and Spanish-language homilies festoon the walls.

The Scene
Until recently, Taco Haven was a strictly neighborhood affair, with local poets and prophets from the nearby art-chic King William district dining alongside families from low-income housing. Now people are flocking from outside the neighborhood, drawn by the area's gentrification and Torres' home cooking. The view out the window features a washateria completely covered with mural art by artist Terry Ybanez. The hot-pink image facing streetside memorializes local labor hero Emma Tenayuca, so while you're waiting for a steaming heap of chili con carne, you can discuss local history and the liberation of the garment workers.

bueno – Great neighborhood place. Inexpensive and friendly. A bit of a wait, but like the old saying goes, it's well worth it
