Horrible customer service - dont' go! – Cashier was the worst and perfect example of what not to do. She was unfriendly, agitated, and I felt as though I was an inconvenience. Her credit card reader was not working on the register, so she insisted I had to pay with cash or check. Since I had neither, she said, "I just don't understand why people are so dependent on credit cards." How ridiculous and inappropriate! It turns out the other register (next to her) was able to process credit cards. Needless to say, there was no "thank you" or "sorry for the inconvenience." Apparently, she doesn't understand that customers are what makes a business operate.
Dead flowers, junk-store feel – I went to a florists to get pricing for the flowers for my wedding and was shocked ($85 for a bouquet with 6 flowers in it!!!), so I decided to check out the local wholesale flower places in San Antonio. I think, by far, Travis is the most popular, but I was EXTREMELY disappointed when I went there. It was like pure chaos! There ways junk every where, no order to the layout, and the back of the store looked like someone's messy garage!!! I wouldn't be surprised to hear that they've had claims of junk falling on people or customers stumbling in the cluttered aisles. As for the flowers, they had almost no selection and the few varieties they did have were wilted, small, or just generally unhealthy looking. I walked out without buying a thing and then zipped right around the corner to Janal.
Janal was clean, organized and looked like a business (not a yard sale). The staff was professional, friendly and helpful! And the flowers?...PERFECT! Each bud we looked at was pristine and looked like it had just been plucked! They have 2 fresh flower areas, and their variety is impressive! They may be a little bit more expensive, but at least I'm getting EXACTLY what I wanted, and I know they will be fresh on my special day.
If you're looking for the cheapest, Travis might be it. But if you're looking for the best, go around the corner to Janal!
A florist for those with a need to control every last detail, or just on a tight budget. – The Scene
Brides go to florists for flowers, but where do the florists go? One place is the solid brick building on Josephine Street. Travis Wholesale Florists offers everything necessary to create floral arrangements, from vases, bowls and candles to those extra sparkly things that fill out an arrangement and make it look professional.
The giant warehouse doesn't offer much in the way of glamour. Bunches of flowers sit in buckets of water in a cold storage area. You'll need to know your flowers: Prices on a chalkboard are the closest thing to a label. The staff is efficient and work best with knowledgeable customers. The selection of fresh flowers isn't exotic (all the basics are covered; ask about special orders), but the silk and dried flowers lined up in row after row of boxes are strikingly realistic and varied.
