Years ago the Pig Stand in my hometown, Houston closed down. We were very disappointed. This weekend we took a trip to San Antonio and discovered that a Pig Stand was still in operation there. The next morning we arrived at the restaurant to discover a full parking lot. There was a swap meet going on and we went on inside. The pancakes were just as good as I remembered them and the service was also good. We have no complaints about the Pig Stand and plan on visiting it each time we are in San Antonio. I loved the decor and the atmosphere. I highly recommend this restaurant for cheap eats.

It's historical! It's barely survived! It's fun! It's friendly! – We moved to the Rio Grande Valley from Ohio a year ago and were visiting San Antonio for Fiesta. We were lucky enough to come in after 10pm. The Food Channel's recommendation isn't enough? Well being the first drive-in, and the last one of this chain (88th anniversary!), this restaurant deserves all the applause it receives! The fried chicken was wonderful, Robert and I agreed. Bruce loved the pancakes, Adolfo the Mexican food. We know, we know that pulled pork sandwiches are the thing to order, but we have had Barbacoa coming out our ears for months. The waitress was laughing and friendly, in spite of some surly customer, and surprisingly the juke box really was a draw. Locals sang along and cheered the selections, even though they hadn't chosen them. It was a fun night. And why not?! It was Fiesta and we were at Pig Stand.

The Last Pig Stand - Better than ever – I eat at the PIg Stand on Broadway at least once a week. For a classic diner, this one was built in the sixties, it is as good as any. Great Hamburgers, shakes and sundaes, as well as fried fish and chicken fried steak. My wife loves the Pig Sandwich. I enjoying playing a few old songs on the jukebox while I am waiting for my food to arrive. You can select your favorite tunes right at your booth. The service is pretty good too, unless they get real busy, then it can become a little slow. I am glad this one was saved from the doom the others have succumbed to. They also serve some great plate lunches on weekdays. Everything from chicken and dumplings to enchiladas. If you like diner food, this is the place.

I'll let you tell it!! – WELL WE DECIDED TO GO TO A DINER THAT WE HEARD THE FOOD WAS GOOD! WELL ITS ALRIGHT THE PORTIONS ARE VERY GENEROUS BUT THE FOOD DIDNT HAVE ANY FLAVOR , I ORDERED THE CHICKEN FRIED STEAK AND THE CRUST AND THE GRAVY DIDN TASTE LIKE ANYTHING I KEPT ON HAVING TO ADD SALT..MY BOYFRIEND ORDERED THE FRIED CHICKEN AND THAT NEEDED FLAVOR AND SALT,IT WAS SO BLAND. IF YOU LIKE GOOD SIZE PORTIONS WITH NO FLAVOR THAN THIS IS THE PLACE TO EAT! I SHOULD OF JUST STAYED WITH EATING MY CHICKEN FRIED STEAK , AT THE TEXAS ROAD HOUSE OR AT LUBYS

Locals have fallen under the spell of the bright pink neon pig sign for years. – In Short
A San Antonio original, Pig Stand restaurants once served diners in the privacy of their own car, but today it's eat inside. Daily lunch specials include everything from enchiladas to chicken pot pie, usually with a complement of canned veggies. The menu celebrates Texas specialties like chicken-fried steak, chicken-fried chicken and, as the name implies, various versions of pork sandwiches. Classic burgers, greasy french fries and around-the-clock breakfast highlight a menu that never changes.

Pig Stand – 50's dinner look and feel. Great pork BBQ sandwiches and onion rings. Service can be slow if they are crowded and ventiliation is poor so you'll likely smell cigarette smoke no matter where in the restaurant you sit.
