This was the WORST service I have EVER received at an Automotive Service Center. Women beware they will try to rip you off... I just got my brakes done on my car in November 2013 in Alabama before moving here (rotors, pads etc total of $500) but I noticed a squeaking noise coming from them when I hit the brakes so I thought I would take it by to get them checked out.
They tried to tell me that I needed an additional $400 worth of work done to them (rotors turned in the front, hardware kit spring was broken in the back as well as drums turned replaced in the back). I had all of this work done previously in Alabama, and I knew that there was no way it needed it done again so soon (My car was on a trailer in the back of a moving truck when I moved from Alabama). They tried their best to sell me on these items but I knew that I should get a second opinion. I told them to put it back together and that's what I would do. They said they couldn't put it back together and that it would be $200 to fix the car to make it driveable and that they couldn't only charge me for hardware on one side. Finally a manager over rode this and I escaped out of there only paying a little over $100. I also dropped it off at 1 pm and was promised that it would be ready at 5 but it wasn't ready till 7 pm. After calling them several times, they told me that they had to get additional parts from somewhere else. They also told me that they would bring my car to me once it was complete but the last manager that I talked with told me to get a taxi there. I am very disappointed with Pep Boy's customer service. They were very misleading on the work that needed done as well as everything else. BEWARE STAY FAR, FAR AWAY!! I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO MY WORST ENEMY.
Things obviously have changed – I saw old reviews of this place and they seemed inconsistent from my experience several years ago. Contrary to others, my experiene was fantanstic. My technician David was thorough and skilled. I would definately recommend you go there. All stars!!!!
Con Artists – Went in with a blow out and for a 80,000 mile tune up. They ended up quoting me over thousand dollars including a serp belt. 2 tires were bad, 2 had about 10 - 15k miles left on them. Changed them all out and bought the brand they reco'd because they promised a 1 tire full rebate. Said i got everything i needed for rebate. Sent in paperwork to pep boys as instructed and got reject letter stating i did not qualify b/c i did not balance and pay for road side warranty, was never told to me and I did pay the full install pkg and warranty anyways, plus an alignment. Now I have to go back and fight it. They also ripped my brake pad indicator wire on my VW and now need new pads as it's ripped and they said car checked out, no leaks, only for me to find out I had 2 major leaks and needed more work. I will never go there again other than to fight for my tire rebate they owe me.
