San Antonio's Worst Facility – Terrible place to put your child!
I placed my child there 2 years ago during the evening, and within 30 min. of her being there, her diaper bag was taken by another child's grandparent. I had to battle with the facility, as well as the child's mother to get it back. When we finally got it back (days later), after both the facility and the mother wanted me to go to Boerne to get it myself, the facility finally got me the diaper bag back. All of the items in it were stolen (diapers, food, juice, etc.), and the diaper bag was empty. I was never reimbursed for the stolen items. My child also has sensitive skin, and required a certain type of diaper. The too small diaper they put her in caused a nasty rash I had to deal with for several days.
Push forward to the present. My ex used them for his childcare (after ignoring my requests not to put her there because of the previous bad experience), and my child came back telling me she was repeatedly being bullied by a slightly younger child. When talking to the facility, they blew me off, and refused to talk about the problem, even though I specified the child's name, and the child's teacher. They practically laughed at me when I told them the other child's name, and her teacher. I'm sorry, I don't care how young or old a child is...bullying, period, should not be tolerated. The other child was not that much younger in age to that of my own child. I was insulted that they cared so little, and they refused to acknowledge there was a bullying problem. The other child repeatedly threatened to beat up, hit, kick, punch, etc. my own child, and something should have been done by the teacher in supervision, as well as the director, to end the bullying when it was brought to their attention.
They're very evidently neglectful in their supervision, and condone bullying by other children. Nothing has changed in 2 years. RUN in the opposite direction! They may be cheap, and offer extended hours, but it isn't worth it for such careless and neglectful care.
very badly run and poor so-called Learning Center – If I could have rated this with less I would. My son(5) has been going there for less than a year now. Untill today. He has been at accredited daycares prevoius to this one and since starting here I have seen a HUGE decline in his behavior. In the 7 months he has been there he has had at least 4 different "teachers", and I use the term lightly. I have witness many time the kids been grabbed and forcefully moved by the arm and alot of yelling. Today the the director spoke to me in a very unprofesional and extremely rude manner. This is unexceptable. I took him out imediatly and do not regret this at all. Their price is cheap and you get exactly what you pay for, cheap care of your child.
Warning: This daycare does not treat children properly! – I would NOT recommend this daycare to anyone! My child is a well behaved 3.5 year old at home and when explained the rules, he follows them. At this establishment they do not teach children to follow the rules, they dictate and expect toddlers to follow regardless of them understanding or not.
While at work today the daycare called 4 times demanding me to pick up my child. When I explained that I was on my way, but had to complete a transaction with a costumer they continued to call. When I arrived they demanded that I pay for the entire day, yet my child had not stayed for the day. This is the 3rd time this has happened this week. It has happened for an entire month with calls occurring 4 times a day.
An example, I went to give the daycare worker a list of foods that my son could not eat and I was treated disrespectfully, even though I bought the food that my son was to eat. When I spoke with the manager she told me "she was sick and tired of having to give the special food to your child".
When my son came home he went to his room to play by himself, which is extremely abnormal for a 3.5 year old child.
I am worried that this so called "learning center" has been mistreating my child and instead of lovingly teaching the children they run a "recess" type of learning center instead of an actual LEARNING CENTER. Toddlers cannot be expected to follow rules until they understand them first. I have paid a large sum for my child to be taught not simply watched, but this is not happening.
Great Quality Care – My child loves this place. He has been attending since he was 10 months old and he is now 14 months. He has had great care. He waves bye when I drop him off and is happy when I pick him up. His teachers are caring, love thier job and they are excited to share his milestones with me.
I have dropped in unannounced on several ocasions when I leave work early to pick him up and find him playing, being read to or napping.
I have never had any problems with leaving him here. The price is great and I have never heard or seen anything negative.
I realize it is not the prettiest daycare, but looks can be deceiving.
I would recommend this place to anyone.
good impression – i walked in this morning un-announced to the wrong building and a teacher forwarded me to the right building. I walked in to the right building and the man behind the counter i was assuming the receptionist..greeted me with a smile and said good morning "can i help you." I let him know that I was looking to place my four year old son and offered to walk me to the classroom to show me where he would be at. He also introduced me to the teachers assistant and I was really impressed by the children sitting down working on some type of christmas crafts...and they were all not running amock they were really doing good. He let me know of their schedule and showed me the rest of the classroom which overall showed structure..I was a little skeptical about first signing my son up for this daycare given the other reviews but I DIDNT, see anything out of order, the classroom and both teachers i ran across seemed happy to be there and thats that it was an un planned visit. Its a cozy like setting...time will tell if my gut instinct about this being a good place was right. It was a very clean and organized place to me.
walk-in? walk-out. – I felt the vibe just walking in that this wasn't gonna be where my child would end up. The staff and manager had an attitude like "what do YOU want? Get your information packet and go. We don't like bubbly people coming in here."
do not send your child here – The place is terrible! It's unwelcoming, nobody attempts to say "good morning" or make the kids feel welcome. There is a staff member there that very often, as I'm dropping my child off, I would hear openly complaining about other employees. The teachers are rude to the parents. They are demeaning to the kids. The kids get bored because of lack of structure. And if your child has an accident report, good luck trying to get the full story of what happened out of anyone. Even the director told me, "I don't know." It's a very unprofessional place. It may be cheap but I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE!!! You get what you pay for.
Poor staff management – I noticed lack of staff organization. They were very inconsistent with the rules and upholding of the rules. I realize it may not be easy to manage a day care but if the current management staff can't do the job, I would suggest hiring someone who is more capable. This is not to say that some of the teachers/staff members are not great with the children. A very few of them do their job and do it well. I would not recommend this day care. It may seem convenient and inexpensive but safety and organization are more important to me.
TO ENSURE THE CARE AND SAFETY OF YOUR CHILD AVOID CASTLE HILLS – THIS DAYCARE HAS POOR MANAGMENT,THE EMPLOYEES DO NOT WATCH THE CHILDREN.THEY HAVE NUMEROUS INCIDENT REPORTS WHEN QUESTIONED ABOUT THE INCIDENT THEY SHRUG THEIR SHOULDERS TURN THE OTHER WAY AND HAVE NO CLUE AS TO WHAT HAPPENED TO THE CHILD. THEY YELL AT THE CHILDREN AND DEGRATE THE CHILDRENS FAMILY I DONT RECOMMENED THIS CENTER TO ANYONE
