Researched and proven the best for our needs – My oldest originally started out at my work's daycare which I must admit I did not research. The place was emaculate, polished, new, and expensive, so of course it had to be the best. I learned quickly that looks weren't everything. They combined infants from 2-12 months in the same room, and researching their incidents on the TX DFPS site I found a few disturbing complaints, like mixing up breastmilk. The parents dropping off their children were incredibly polite, holding the door open for others entering the daycare which is great except that this was supposed to be a secure entry with id card swipe required. They were letting anyone in and the personnel at the desk weren't questioning anyone! Shame on me for not doing my research.
We immediately started researching a replacement daycare, preferably in the medical center. I sent my husband to check out multiple daycares while I was working. He was surprised at how many let him in and gave him the tour without asking who he was. This one stood out because the moment he walked in they immediately asked who he was and what he was doing there. Be rude! Seriously, I'd rather you be rude and stop people from coming in if that is my child in there that you are protecting. That was a huge plus. The only incidents I found on them were few and far between, minor paperwork issues. The only complaint I had was that they had no internet site - which was difficult for me being a computer nerd, so I actually had to detach from my computer and physically go down to check them out but so glad I did.
Now more than 3 years later I still feel we made the best choice. As we enter and leave the building, every teacher there knows my kids by name. My 3 1/2 yr old daughter loved the daily swim classes throughout the summer and currently participates in the on-site dance, karate, and Spanish classes. My 2yr old won’t let us leave the building without stopping to hug every teacher she comes across. There is a large shaded carport area for bad weather drop-off and pick-ups. And my coworkers who also used this daycare for their kids rave all the time about how advanced their children were when they moved on to elementary school. The topping on the cake was that this was actually one of the cheapest priced daycares we checked out. An amazing bargain for the sense of security they provide us. If you can overlook a few old toys (see older reviews), it's definitely worth it to check this place out.
WONDERFUL place for your kids – My son has been going here since he was 1.. now he's in kindergarten there. My daughter has been going there she she was 8 weeks old.. and I hope to keep her there until she is in kindergarten.
I was concerned about my son going to a regular daycare, instead of a home-based one, but now I'm convinced this was best. They have taught him so much, people tell me all the time that he seems smarter than other kids they know his age. He has a great vocabulary and great social skills.
The toys may be a little old.. but they don't buy brand new all the time to cut down on the cost to parents, and they accept a lot of donations from parents as well.
The setup in the daycare is great... babies are in an enclosed nursery so they aren't disturbed.. but there is glass all the way around so you can see. All the other classes have half-walls so they are open. And it is amazing how you can walk in there in the afternoon and ALL the kids are down for a nap at the same time!... I can hardly get my 2 down peacefully at the same time on the weekend!
The teachers are great and care about the kids.. starting at about 3, they have a very structured education and my kid will be ahead of the curve after he finishes up kindergarten and goes to 1st grade at another school.
And... they offer gymnastics, karate, dance & swimming lessons ON SITE! (for an extra fee of course)
Also... I work/have worked with several prominent people in the community who have their kids or have had their kids at Bright Ideas... it has a great reputation.
The price is about mid-range for daycares... and decreases as your child gets older.
But you wouldn't necessarily want the cheapest place for your child, would you? Sometimes you get what you pay for and this place is definitely worth it. I NEVER worry about my kids here, and they love it!
One of the best daycares in HSC area – I personally think it's one of the best children's daycares in the Medical Center Area. I visited about 10 of them and this was the one I liked best. I am taking my daughter since March, she is really happy and loves her teachers. My only concern is the meals provided; from my point of view, they do not promote healthy eating habits at all. However, I think kids are allowed to take home food.
Toys, bouncers and swings may be old but I do not think that's so important as far as they are safe. The outside playground is great.
Best Private Daycare – My 4 year old has been going to this exceptional daycare since August and we love it! My 1 year old will soon be going there and I am very excited! This daycare is A LOT cleaner than most daycare centers I toured before enrolling my 4 year old there. They actually have a cleaning service that comes in at night. What impressed me most is that they offer kindergarten and most of the teachers have been there 10 years plus. Something you don't find in the other daycares. It is very structured and the staff is great and very friendly! I have never been treated rudely nor has my son been mistreated unlike where he was before where they constantly belittled him and barely said two words to me! I will agree that yes, you need to interview the staff, walk around the facility and I recommend going to at least 3 before making a final decision. This is your child and if you work than plan on them being there for at least 9-10 hours a day. So the most important thing is that you have to feel comfortable leaving your child in their care and I don't worry about my 4 year old nearly as much as I do my 1 year old because the difference in the centers is night and day.
Center is really dirty – This Day care center is really dirty you have to see the the toddlers room. The toys are
so old. I am a mom that works. I am single and I needed to find a good day care. I thought
this one would be good becuase it is down the street from my house and it is on the northside.
I was really wrong. I went just to take a tour and the teachers there didn't even take the correct time to
show me around, it's like they were rushing me. Then I got to the toddlers room where my child would
be at becuase hes 2 yrs old and the toys were so old, and looked like they have been used too many times.
Just an advice check out your childs day care before enrolling, it is very important. Your child will be there most of the day and he will be under the staff's care too.
Beware Office Staff is Terrible – The office staff here is very rude. I had my child here before and don't
recommend any parents leaving there children here. Please check out
the staff before enrolling your children.
