The doctors there are great!I took my border collie there when she had a torn acl and even though she was 11 yrs old at the time we went ahead with the surgery because if we didn't her last few years with us would have been miserable since she has always been such an active dog. To this day she loves to be active and we wouldn't have had that without such great doctors! I truly thank the staff there who helped my skyler enjoy whatever years she still has with us,two years later and she is still going strong
Dr U, was rude and disrespectful. Got really upset that I said I might have to reschedule if I wasn't seen after already being there for over an hour. He didn't speak to me for awhile after finally entering the examine room. Didn't introduce himself or shake my hand. Called his friend who referred us to complain about me and said that he would be nicer to me next time. There won't be a next time. We were planning on canceling the follow up but was certainly advised by the person who referred us after he heard the ugly way the dr spoke about me.
poor service – We went to Blockhouse a year ago and at that time the office seemed friendly and competent. This time the experience was totally different. We arrived for our 5:30 appt. at 5:20. We stood in front of the receptionist who, by 5:30, had literally not looked up from her computer once to even say, "I'll be right with you". We were right in front of her and she never acknowledged us. A man at another computer station seemed to be multi-tasking. He said he'd be with us in a minute and then tried to help a number of other people who were just sitting in the waiting room, none of them smiling, evidently waiting for their pets. They were there before us and I didn't see one of them get their pet before we went into the exam room. We waited in that room for about another 15 minutes before anyone even came in. We gave that person the information about the dog. He left and about 10 minutes later another tech came in who did not have the information about our dog accurate, and we had to start all over again.
Our dog was there for an exam. During our time there, she was seen by 4 different technicians who came in and out of the room. One of them appeared to be trying to be helpful, but began diagnosing the dog during our conversation. When the vet came, he appeared hurried and somewhat frazzled. We did not leave the clinic until after 7:00.
I am sorry that our experience this time was so different than the first. The whole feel of Blockhouse was one of disorganization and a lack of genuine interest in the customer/animal. Even the other customers we saw didn't seem happy. Never again.
Awful Vet Service – What a bunch of rude people in this place. Our cat developed a urinary blockage. We brought him in the next morning and was told that it would require a 2 or 3 day stay. We were quoted a price of $1000-1500 which would include aggressive treatment to include IV, X-rays, boarding, food etc. We said let's try the most conservative approach to bring the price down. So they agreed to inject the fluid under the skin instead of a IV and to not do the X-rays. We were told this would dramatically lower the price. Well 7 days later he was finally able to go home. The bill was $875. All they did was insert a catheter for 4 days and after that they manually expressed his bladder(they push on it to make them urinate) and gave him oral antibiotics. And they said all that cost $875? Seemed a bit high to me. Finances are tight for us, for many of the same reasons they are tight for other people in this economy right now. So I asked if it was possible to pay $600 now, $150 next month and $125 the month after that. Nope! They wanted ALL their money RIGHT NOW. NO EXCEPTIONS. Per their rude office manager this was straight from Dr. Urbanczyk himself. Not to mention Dr. Urbanczyk was very rude to my wife at about day 5 when we were given wrong information about our cat. We were told by his vet tech that the cat was doing great and would be able to go home the next morning. My wife called and spoke to Dr. Urbanczyk who immediately got defensive and told her he was not ready to go home and was very short with my wife. After she told him what we were told and that there was a communication problem Dr. Urbanczyk did not have the common courtesy to apologize. He wouldn't even come out to talk about payment arrangements, only his rude office manager. Gone is the day when vets would work with their customers. i guess they are like everyone else now. It's all about money, money, money! Well as the owner of four animals he lost all future business with us. So buyer beware, you are nothing but a dollar symbol to these people and God forbid you have any extenuating circumstances because they only care about the bottom line here. Avoid this place. Most of the the other vets and staff get their caring attitudes from Dr. Urbanczyk who has a cold demeanor and lacks any type of warm, caring bedside manner. I've owned dogs and cats all of my adult life and was also raised with them and have had plenty of experience with vets over the years. Dr. Urbanczyk and his practice are without a doubt the worst vet clinic I have ever dealt with. I wish I had checked this site before I took my cat there. The negative reviews are almost an exact carbon copy of what I experienced.
I do not agree – Last month I read earlier reviews and emailed BHCAH what I found. Not believing those posts for a minute, mind you, as they sounded like sour grapes to me, having nothing to do with the care of their animals. Dr. U is treating my dog Buddy, an 8 yr old pomeranian. When we thought there was no hope for his condition, Dr. U proved otherwise providing medication that has made a difference. Even though Buddy is not up to par, I have every confidence that Dr. U and his staff will continue to find all means available to treat our beloved pet. Kim Messenger, and the rest of the staff, is very helpful and caring. Even though their days are extremely busy, time is always allowed, thus the lengthy wait at times. To me, the wait means they are spending the time necessary with every animal, not rushing. Dr. U has called me in the evening, more than once to discuss Buddy's welfare and condition. I am very pleased with this Animal Hospital and recommend them to everyone.
Our dogs prognosis is bleak, his condition is chronic. Since going to BHCAH, he is more comfortable and playful than he has been in a long time. We will always take our pets to this animal hospital with no hesitation. I highly recommend them. Veterinary services, no matter where you go, is expensive. I am willing to pay whatever I must to ensure my pets well being. I believe my pets are in good hands.
Deborah Essary, for Buddy Essary. :)
VET HELL!! – DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE!! These people are worse then terrible and it makes me sick to know they are in business and seeing animals in need of care. I don't think these people know how to take care of anything but themselves. Worst place ever!
Do you want a Dr. that has the knowledge to save your pet ?! – I would Never go any where else !!!
I have been going to Dr. U for over 5 year. I took my family dog there when I was a teenager and when I moved out and adopted my own dogs I take them there. He has always been great!
I now have 5 dogs that I have adopted and 1 of them was a Chi that was only 6 weeks old and was dieing right in from of me. I rushed her to him and he saw me right way and knew exactly what to do and saved her life.
Another one of my dogs i adopted from a family that got her from Town lake and they never took her to the vet and when I brought her in to get her checked up he was straight forward with me on what was wrong with her( which was alot) and worked with me one by one to get her healthy and happy. He took me to the back to show me all the diffrent bugs she had living in her and then he had every single staff member come and look and educated them on what they were seeing.
If he didnt know what was wrong with my dog he spent his personal time going through books and making calls to figure it out and several time he called me after 9 pm! Not many vets are going to do that.
He has always been straight forward with me! He doesnt sugar coat it when it come to my pets and I LOVE that about him. If you need to be patted on the butt and talked to like a baby then you might not like him. Me, personally, I want the truth and I want all the facts and I want to know how I may or may not to prevented this. If I did somthing wrong I want to know, so it wont happen again.
My Chi had to have her hip worked on because It didnt form. He told me what he thought was best and answered ALL my questions and showed me examples of other dogs he had done for all of my concerns.
For all you people complaining about pricing. Look around ... prices have been going up for years! If he didnt raise his prices along with everyone else then he would not be able to have a place for you to bring your dieing or sick pet.
If money is all you are worried about and not that you are getting a vet that has been a Dr. for many many years and has seen and treated many illnesses then, Im sure you can find a vet that just got out of College and does not have the experience he does!
And for everyone complaining about the wait times. Yes, you will be there a little while, BUT its beacuse he will sit there and talk to you about your pet. One thing I hated about the vets I had used before I found him was they always seemed rushed and would find the fastest way to answer my questions and go to the next person. I always feel valued and respect by him and his staff. He will stand there and answer any and all my questions without reaching for the door and acting as if he has to go. So, I'm sure he does that with everyone which in turn makes him run late. Which in my eyes I am A-okay with. I know that i will get answers and I dont have to go home and do research on the computer to get my questions answered. If I have a dog that I think needs to be seen right away and I cant stay I call ahead of time and ask if I can drop it off for him to look at and I will pick them up on my way home from work.
I have been to many vets around Cedar Park as I have had many pets growing up , and when I found Block House and he saved my dog, I knew that he cared about the animals and would do anything to save them. Isnt that what its about? Saving the pets and having a happy and healthy Family Member. People dont sweat the small stuff. If you want a happy healthy pet then go see Dr. U at Block House Creek Animal Hospital. He is the only vet I will use as long as I own a pet !
All in all... He is a GREAT vet that has saved the life of 2 of my dogs and healed all of them at one time or another. He is always straight forward with me, never pushy and makes sure i get all my questions answered.
If the most important thing to you is the saftey, health, and happniess of you pet then You need to try Block House Creek Animal Hospital!
Terrible Place - Avoid at all costs! – I went to Blockhouse Animal Clinic on a recommendation from a coworker.
This place was not only overpriced, but had terrible customer serivice. The front desk was rude, seemed always running behind, and always had new staff.
When with the doctor (dr urbanczyk) , I was surprised to find out that they did not perform any of the procedures in front of the customer. They took my dogs back in the back and after 10 minutes, brought them back. I literally have no idea if they did anything to my pet.
When Dr. Urbanczyk left the room, I was surprised that the nice man that had just talked to me was acting very unprofessional and yelling at his workers. I could hear vulgar words and even things being thrown. If he could treat his workers like this behind close doors, I could only imagine what he does to people's pets in the back. I was shocked by how angry the doctor got and would not trust my pets or anyone in that setting.
As mentioned before, the clinic is severely understaffed, is always running behind, and is very overpriced.
DO NOT GO HERE! The service you receive at this clinic is much cheaper, much better, and is in a much more friendly setting. STAY AWAY!
Customer BEWARE! – I've used this vet for a number of years, and I used to be satisfied with what I considered good services. However, BCAH now seems to be mostly interested in the extras they can try to sell you and in gouging the price on whatever they can.
The office staff is tends to change frequently and you can expect long waits because the way they handle paperwork is backward at least. Staff can also be insensitive, such as by saying things like, "Golly that's a fat dog!"
The last time I boarded two pets for a week the cost came to $300. One animal became ill and I was not called. My dog came home with a serious injury, which was not disclosed to me at pick up.
Overall, I would highly recommend that you NOT choose this vet for anything, especially anything that involves leaving your pet with them.
I will never go back to Blockhouse Creek!
bad place for good care at a resonable price – my dog was seen by dr miller suffered arthritis bad.
was really happy with this office at first but now it seems that block house just wants to charge me more for info I already know' they are not interested in saving you money just making money oh well BYE
