All blanket no pig – Saw RR Donut on Travel Channel today! So craving RR donuts!

Plain donut & donut holes were GREAT!

BUT ordered "Pigs in blanket" which normally have little bit bread around sausage.

BUT it was ALL BREAD w/ just TINY SAUSAGE inside.

Oddest thing ever.

What a disappointment!

Don't Bother... – We got there at 7:30 and the donuts were already stale and crusty. These donuts are WAY below average. Don't bother.

Best Doughnuts EVER – My family has been eating these doughnuts for over 20 year...none of us have ever had a better doughnut. They are made the old fashioned way...no big machines mass producing...so it has that "grandma's kitchen" kind of taste. My personal favorite is their chocolate covered original. The person that got upset that they go in the back to bag the doughnut needs to get over their parinoia...they do that to give their customers their freshest (and still warm) doughnuts...like KK (which are WAY inferior in my opinion...) takes them off the production line. Great hometown bakery...and now I live in another state, I can still have them shipped to me!!

Not worth a special trip – While living in Los Angeles, I became something of a donut afficionado. I know what I like about donuts and I think I am a good judge of what makes a donut good.

So when I visitied Austin, I just had to try to the famous Round Rock orange colored glazed donut. I visited on a Sunday when they were having supply line problems and it seemed that no one was serving customers for at least the first few minutes I was there. Then when I was served, the man seemed surprised I wasn't ordering full dozens. Not everybody that walks into a donut shop is feeding the whole church congreation. He then went in the back to fill my order, though there were donuts in the case. Call me crazy, but it feels a little sneaky to bag donuts out of the sight of the customer,

I got a plain cake and a Round rock, with the famous orange colored glazing. Though it was a good basic glazed donut, I didn't feel the Round Rock was anything special. It was a bit too chewy; a fresh Krispy Kreme is actually a superior product, with better flavor and a more melting consistency to the bread. The plain cake tasted exactly like a packaged cake donut, and the oil it was fried in was not completely clean and fresh, lending a somewhat stale taste.

If you are in the area, it's not a bad choice for a donut, but don't make a special drive.

Best Donuts in Central Texas – The "Round Rock Donuts" are the best plain donuts in the Central Texas area. My only wish is that they had additional locations - specifically West or South Austin.

Nice to look at but.... – Bought a birthday cake at the lone star bakery after a friend raved about their cakes. Chose a "Hamburger" cake (looks like a burger..made of cake and frosting and was thrilled when I picked it up because it was sooo beautiful. The only problem was, it tasted awful. The leftover cake sat uneated in the fridge for a week (unusual in my house) and then got thrown out! This cake didnt come cheap either....$24.00. Save you money and go back to HEB.
