International grocery store with a deli counter that serves delicious falafel, shawarma & gyros. Tabouli & eggplant salad make great sides.

miserable customer service!!!!! – I really want to say good things about Phoencia because to food is tastey and exotic but the service there is soooooo poor that I can't allow myself to shop there or recommend it. I'm not alone, it seems like everyone I know has a story about the employees being rude to them. The staff at Phoenicia is unfriendly, inattentive, threatening, impatient, careless and rude. I feel I should explain using the word "threatening". I once went with a spanish speaking friend who overheard the employees talking about how much they hated and wanted to k-ll a certain customer that was in the store. Aside from my friend and myself there was only one other person in the shop. I asumed they where speaking of me, since at the time, I shopped there often. Though I'm sure they were only joking about wanting to k-ll the offending customer , I still think it was beyond rude to say it out loud in a foreign language and asume the person they were speaking of would be none the wiser. More often than not, they fail to get my simple requests correct, by putting unwanted items on my food they've caused me again and again to soil my clothes with drippy (and delicious) sauses in an effort to remove them. I've visited on busy days when the staff forced me to wait in long lines twice, once to order and again to pay despite my request for the opposite. They then refused to get for me a pastery (that was at their fingertips) when I requested it while placing my order. I've had so many negative experiences at Phoenicia I could write a small book. One last thing, most of the time when I've visited there have been flys in the pastery display. Gross Gross Gross.

Horrible Service – I went in here and nobody said a word to me. I didn't get a hello or even a how may I help you. The pastries look old and uninviting. I will never go into this place again. It is not up to par at all. I hope the one on Burnet is better.

This Middle Eastern deli is known for its native specialties, pastries and sandwiches. – In Short
Phoenicia is dominated by its grocery section, with large bakery cases and a takeout counter at opposite ends of the store. Hard-to-find Middle Eastern groceries, like pomegranate syrup for making Persian stew fesenjan, are just a fraction of Phoenicia's selections. Abundant bakery choices include homemade Persian candies and pastries and treats including chocolate-chunk peanut butter cookies and moist apricot strudel. Fresh breads include The lunch crowd goes for savory dolmas, gyro sandwiches and falafel.
