She's been in business for decades with reason. They tailor your clothes so that they fit perfectly. Prices are reasonable and she also is an expert with jeans.

DO NOT GO TO HOPE"S – She quoted me $20-$30 on the phone. Once the pants where finished she told me it would be $57!!!! For tiny unlined no detail pants. I brought her the matterial and had a pattern. She said she never quoted a price and told me that if I didn't want the pants that is fine she has already wasted to much time with me. VERY RUDE!

Excellent, fast, and knowledgeable service at Hope's Tailor Shop – I have been visiting Hope's Tailor Shop for a few months. Started out with business suit tailoring and ended up needing an emergency take-in of my tuxedo for a wedding. I have always been happy with the outcome of my suits. Hope has altered 5 suits this year and every single one was perfect.

I was extremely happy with the quick turnaround of the tuxedo & it fit perfect. I called Hope on a Monday after realizing that the tux was too big. She had it ready for me by Wednesday (no other tailor shop in town would even have it ready for a week!).

I live close by and am glad I stopped on a whim. Hope's Tailor Shop does great work for a good price & has quick turnaround times.

Unfortunate Experience – I recently used the very kind lady at Hope Tailors to alter four suits i recently purchasd for almost 3,000.00 total. Only one of the suits was close to being right and the others were simply atrocious. I kid you not, one of the suit pants were so short there wer four inches between my ankle and the fabric... I looked like a clown.... a clown in a wrecked 600 dollar Hugo Boss suit. I am reasonable and often choose to avoid conflict at all costs. In this scenario i remained calm and simply mentioned they looked a tad short. She profusely apologized and said, "OH MY, I HAVE NO IDEA HOW THIS COULD HAVE HAPPENED!". I just reassured her and said its ok we all make mistakes i'm sure we can fix this. In the end, one of the four i am satisfied with, two i can live with but they are not perfect, and the final one was so badly shortened the first time that there wasn't enough fabric to make the length right. So, i contacted the Hugo Boss store where i purchased my suits to order the same pair of pants, which she agreed to pay for and..... they only sell them as a pair........... So, now bc i do not want her to have to buy me an entirely new suit i will have to have the manager of the HB store find me a pair of pants that will make what was once intended to be a suit coat..... a blazer. So, long story short, i am sad that this has all transpired and regret having written this 100 percent accurate account of my experience minus emotion, bc i know it may hurt her business, but if i'd read an account like this i would probably have 4 gorgous well fitted business suits in my closet. Instead, i have a hodge podge of shoddy tailored suits. Business men, i emplore you.. if you want your suits to fit right, find another tailor. Hopefully this posting will save another person from having the same experience as mine.

Waaaaaay overpriced! – I needed an unlined cotton sundress hemmed 1-1/2 inches....I stopped by hope based on the good reviews, and the fact it's in my neighborhood. The work seems fine (of course, a hem isn't exactly brainsurgery) but whoa- I was blown away at the price- $30!!! For a 1-1/2 inch hem? No lining? Geez. The dress itself cost barely more than that!

Maybe I'm out of touch, but that sounds extraordinarily high to me. The craftsmanship here could be extraordinary, but it won't matter because I won't be back after spending this much on a simple hem job.

Sigh,

Great price, renewed wardrobe after losing weight – Hope's Tailor Shop is in my neighborhood so I gave it a try. I lost 2 dress sizes over the past couple of months and had a lot of clothes in my closet that I didn't want to get rid of just yet. I took 2 dresses, 2 suits, and 3 pairs of blue jeans for the tailor to adjust to my new size, and I'm glad I did! I was really happy with the overall look of the clothes - everything looked great and since then I've returned with more items that she has also altered and made to look wonderful for me.

Very happy with service and tailoring – I was very happy with Hope's Tailor Shop. She fixed a bridesmaids dress for me that was a little loose around the waist and bust, and was able to have it finished for me on time and it fit great! I also took in a pair of pants for hemming right before I left town ( about 3 days before leaving) and she was the only tailor shop that would complete them for me on such quick notice. I called around first and checked with other shops but she was the only one who was willing to take them on such short notice. I have since recommended other friends and I'm glad that I found someone in south Austin who does this great service. I'm sure I'll be returning because I have more clothes that needs altering.

Poor workmanship, bait and switch pricing, and lies to cover up increases from quoted price. Stay away. – Took my leather coat with a 4" rip in the armpit where the old thread had worn out in to be resewn. (No tear in the leather, just the thread came out.)

Was quoted $20, which I thought was a little high to start with, but reviews were good, and place is 8 blocks from my home.

I finally pickup the jacket (she didn't call for a month), and as she's running my credit card, I notice the bill at $27.xx. I ask why so high when I was quoted $20, and her reply was that it was 'Tax'.

I explain that I'm not stupid, and know that that there's not over $7 tax on $20.

She then explains how the job was harder than she thought.... yeah right.

Examining the seam, there are several loops/stitches that are not tight and are hanging.

Very shoddy workmanship, bait and switch on the price, and attempts to lie about why pricing was high.

Stay away!.. there must be a better option.

I don't normally bother with writing reviews, but this place was a total waste of time/money.

Really great fit on business suits and jackets – I have been a loyal customer of Hope's Tailor Shop for over 10 years. Every few months I have her adjust my business suits, jackets, hem pants, and I've even had her make a set of curtains for my house. I have always been very satisfied with her services. She is a very friendly tailor and I've had nothing but positive experiences with her shop. It's why I keep going back - she's only minutes from downtown and in a convenient location. Whenever anyone asks for a recommendation she's the only person I recommend. She is very experienced and knows how to make me look good!

Look Elsewhere – They are nice, but do terrible work. She left a huge gap between the hook and the zipper on the back of my dress.
