I didn't order that! – Salsa tasted like Pace picante. The waiter repeated my order 3 times & it STILL came out wrong. There were 4 random hairs in my meal. Moths flew around my head. I went home & threw up from the horrible experience.

Good Little Restaurant.. – I have been going to that restaurant since I came to Texas about 6 years. By far it is my Favorite place to eat in Austin, TX....... Please try the queso dip w/guac and ground beef it is very good...

Great food, weak service. – Every time I go to La Reyna, I get the same thing - the enchiladas rancheras. Instead of being some goopy melted cheese concoction with brownish sauce on top, these contain slightly melted monterey jack and are topped with potatoes and carrots. They come with rice, beans, and veggies, plus enough tortillas to make four or five fajitas. The queso is particularly good, although the difference between the small and large is not enough to justify the price difference. They also have bottles of Jarritos Mexican sodas (I recommend the sangria or limon). The only problem I've ever experienced has been with service. Sometimes they're slow to bring out a soda if you order one, and when everyone's done, no one ever brings you the bill. We usually stand at the bar until someone comes to help us, but this can take ages. The food is worth going back for.

Editorial Review by Citysearch Editors – South-central Austin diner turns out authentic Mexican fare, from appetizers to desserts; daily specials and breakfast until 2pm.

Authenticity – I grew up in west Texas where Mexican Food restaurants are a dime a dozen. La Reyna is definitely the closest thing to authentic Mexican food that I have had in Austin. The ambience is authentic, and the prices are very good for the amount of food you get. If I lived closer I would eat there a LOT more.
