Editorial Review for Baby Acapulco – by Susan Kirr
In Short
The pink-and-green exterior broadcasts the casual nature of this eatery. Several brightly painted dining rooms provide refuge in cooler months, but the patio is where couples, college students and large groups soak up the sunshine and the popular margaritas. Queso compuesto is a hearty mix of guacamole, chunky pico de gallo, seasoned ground beef and cheese. Catfish tacos get a cool kick from cilantro, avocado and tomatoes and are topped off with firm, sweet flan.

This is one of those rare TexMex food places where there is some healthy, tasty alternative to the regular if you're not feeling like cheese, meat, beans, and rice. The ceviche is outstanding with squid, scallops, fish, tons of fresh tomatoes, cilantro, and spices. The only thing I haven't figured out is why they put green olives in there---that's a first for me. Moreover, there were a lot of them to pick out of the dish. The portion is noteworthy as it is HUGE and a fantastic bargain compared to normal serving sizes/prices (similar to crabcakes). The other reasons for going there---the "purple" margarita which includes EverClear so beware and be sure to have a designated driver ready, and the fun, casual atmosphere.
Pros: potent margaritas, tasty ceviche at bargain price
Cons: are there any?

If you want marginal, dishonest service and a "the customer is always wrong" attitude then I highly recommend Baby Acapulco. We went there for happy hour for drinks and appetizers. Apparently the waitstaff has no idea what items are on the happy hour menu. Otherwise why would we have been told an item was on that menu and then get charged full price for it. When we spoke to the manager about it, you would think she would have apologized and then corrected our check, right? WRONG! Instead she demanded to know which member of the waitstaff had given us that information. Since said waitstaff member was not the one that served us, we didn't remember what he looked like. We thought saying "we don't know" would make that abundantly clear but again we were wrong. For a moment we thought she was going to parade us around the restaurant until we indentified the culprit. Unbelivable! We will never set foot in that restaurant again and advise others not to either.
Pros: none
Cons: service, management
