Used to LOVE this place but not thrilled with my last visit. Cold food had to be reheated. Apologetic staff makes me willing to try again...
it used to be good – i used to go to romeo's alot but it has declined in quality. On my most recent visit the waitstaff was pleasant but the food was bad. I had met one of the chefs prior to my bad experience and was very fond of his food. I feel he made the restaurant better however i recently found out that he is no longer there anymore. Since his departure the only remaining quality items are the cakes which he brought to romeo's from Aladdin's Eatery. He was the executive chef there and made the most wonderful food. I miss his cooking. I hope they realized what they did by letting him go
homey, italian..simple and sweet – Went here with a couple friends on valentines night without a reservation, was expecting a long wait but only waited maybe 15 minutes.. was seated in the room facing the window which I liked. I dont mind the decor at all..the grapes and the tables seem to be purposely done as an old italy time feel. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable ..we all had drafts or glasses of wine which were reasonably priced.
Tried the stuffed mushrooms-SO DELICIOUS! Also had the spinach and artichoke dip, thought it was better than most places. Tried a tiny bit of everyones dishes.. the portions were large.. My friend had a huge pizza(didnt try it but he said it was good). I had the tortellini pomodoro and that was delicious, sauce was great and was told the tortellini is made in the house each morning, was very good. My date had the pork lombardo- I want this next time, it was amazing. Also tried a bit of my friends stuffed shells and thought they were good. We shared a chocolate cream cake and it was very tasty. I've been a fan of this place for years.. I often describe it as a cute date/group spot, not too fancy.. definitely better than olive garden but not high in the ranks of such like Vespaio. It's a happy medium, and I am always happy to have italian food that is simple and traditional.
What a joke – My wife and I arrived for a 7:30 PM "reservation" (on a Saturday night) at this establishment at 7:15 PM. There were approx. 75 half drunk 20 somethings milling about the entrance area/foyer who refused to get out of the way so that we could check in. Finally, after shoving my way to the maitre d stand, I was told that it would be over an HOUR before I could be seated. The 3 employees at the maitre d stand were absolutely clueless. No member of management was conducting crowd control. They took their phone off the hook so that patrons could not call in. My wife and I were so disgusted with the experience that we just left. Obviously, these people do NOT know the difference between "open seating" and a "reservation". If standing out on the street with a bunch of drunk 20 something posers is your thing, then by all means make a "reservation" at this dump. BEWARE that you will be treated like crap when you arrive by clueless employees and an obviously amateur management team. ZERO stars ... will not go back. The whole experience was a total turnoff.
Not a Fan – Used to go to Romeo's often but over the last several months the service has really gone down hill and the food hasn't been good. Not sure if there was a change in kitchen staff or new management, but I haven't been pleased lately. They used to have such good eggplant... just hasn't been the same.
Great Atmosphere – I really to like the atmosphere in this place. Its a little old school, but the kind of place I can hang out. The food was terrific. I will definately go back
THe Best – We have been going to Romeo's for many years and always love the experience. First class food, music and service.
Just Horrible !!!! – When my wife and I arrived we had to wait for about 15 minutes before anyone even greeted us. When we did get seated it was in a terrible location and we requested another table but were told that we had to sit there because it was that servers turn in the rotation and we had to sit in his section. The place was not full at all. From then on out we were just not happy. Everything went wrong. We tried to order wine but they were out of everything we tried to order. We NEVER got our waters that we had asked for when our drinks arrived from the bar. Our appetizer came out at the same time as our food...? I could go on and on about our experience but to sum it up for you... DONT waist your time and money at Romeo's.
worst service ever experienced – I went with a friend to this resturant around 6:00 pm. It was in no way crowded . We ordered as soon as the waitress came around for the first time. We had been sitting there for 15 min and still hadn't placed a drink order. The service the whole time was on par with this. She was rude, and absent through the entire meal. We were there for 2 1/2 hours!! I have never had to wait for this amount of time for a beverage, a meal, or the check. What is so bad about this is that the food was pretty good, but I would never return to this resturant b/c of this horrible service!
Not Feelin' the Love – I went to Romeo's with a group of 6 on Valentine's Day and the experience was abysmal. I understand that it is a busy holiday for restaurants, but I truly expected more from a place that I used to love.
The service was slow (the wait was normal, but we were there for 3 hours after we were seated), the waitstaff was rude and inattentive, and the food was definitely NOT up to par.
In addition to the overall bad experience, our waitress brought us a bottle of wine that was different than what we ordered (and significantly more expensive) and when we questioned it, we were told it was not a problem and it would be fixed on our bill. Then an INCREDIBLY RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL MANAGER told us that the mistake was on our part (although the waitress admitted fault) and we were forced to pay for it.
I was truly disappointed in a place that I once loved. I will NOT be returning to this restaurant.
