WOW!! – This place is trash, they don't pay their vendors and could care less. You could put a weight bench in a cardboard box and have a better gym then this!!!!! After reading other reviews its clear that the problems will never be fixed.
sad sad situation – sadly the reviews are true. its heartbreaking to see that the once great big steves gym has falling into hands of someone who just does not seem to care. hopefully these reviews will be read by the owner and something possitive will come of it.
Horrible and run down – I've been at the gym for about a year and a half now. I started with their 100 dollars a year deal (which was only supposed to be for the month yet has been on going for the past year and a half.) It was nice when I started, not a luxury place but i didn't need that,. This place has really gone downhill in the past year. It SMELLS horrible, no soap in the bathroom(ever!) , the machines aren't always working.. Several people have complained but nothing is being done. A friend who goes to the gym said it perfectly; It's like Randy has stopped putting money into this gym. Like he doesn't care if it gets shut down. This is very dissapointing. Don't come here, you really do get what you pay for.
Dirty, Broke-down, South Austin Gym – I concur with the other two reviews. I've been a member for 10 years and the gym has gone downhill tremendously. The A/C is usually broken as are most of the machines. Even the simplest things like the free weights are falling apart for lack of simple repairs and the locker-room is disgusting.
There seems to be a pretty savy management strategy behind all the neglect which is to entice new members to join with a super cheap yearly membership rate ($99) assuming that they will quit in disgust after a few weeks of enduring the bad facilities. The worse the gym is, the more rapid the turn-over -brilliant really.
This south Austin gym offers personal training and kickboxing with a spectacular view of downtown. – In Short
Stair climbers lie in wait on the lower level and a snack bar offers up concoctions for a healthy body. Lockers and showers are located in back with complimentary shampoo and soap. The upper level houses a spacious weight room with machine and free weights aplenty. Here you'll find cycles that face north with a first-rate view of downtown Austin. Personal training, tanning and massage therapy programs are available for additional charges.
Save Yourself A HEADACHE!! – If your looking for a gym that cares about their customers this is NOT it. The people are nice but the gym leaves a lot to be desired. The A/C is bad, machines are regularly out and the facilities can go weeks with no fixing. Definitely won't be renewing my membership.
DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM – the gym is ok and the location is good and the people are pretty nice. BUT, you know how some businesses just don't take care of business? this is one of them. Don't join this gym if you don't want to deal with contracts and administrative hassles. I have had a lengthy battle with them over a payment that I paid on time and they have been completely unresponsive. I do NOT recommend joining this gym. That's my 2 cents.
