Umlauf Sculpture Garden and Museum

A beautiful serene spot--great for casual first dates or an outing with a friend. The grounds are intimate and lush with beautiful sculptures and greenery!

Umlauf Sculpture Garden and Museum

A sweet little spot for a Saturday stroll: Umlauf houses 100 sculptures on its Secret Garden-esque grounds from artist Charles Umlauf, and hosts Wednesday and Friday morning yoga classes outside.

A lush outdoor art exhibit with more than 130 sculptures, drawings and paintings. – In Short
Charles Umlauf, who died in 1994, was a gifted sculptor whose work is displayed in the sculpture garden. Umlauf has more outdoor sculptures in and around Texas than any other artist. You don't need a guide to wander through the landscaped grounds, replete with sculptures made of bronze, cast stone and limestone. Guided tours can be given to groups of 20 or more with advance notice.

Immaculate Atmosphere! – The Umlauf Sculpture Garden is a meditative sanctuary from the busy life of Austin. Nestled between Barton Springs Rd. & Robert E. Lee, it is a shady, cozy nook worth exploring. My family and I went recently (for the first time) on the day of my dog's passing, and it was very peaceful. With all the trees, ponds, and waterlilies; not to mention the sculptures capturing such emotions as spirituality, defeat, sadness, despair, and indescribable beauty...I couldn't help but to feel introspective and thoughtful walking within the garden. I took awesome photos, and the way the sunlight would shower some of the pieces was down-right awe-inspiring. I highly recommend the Umlauf Sculpture Garden to both the sensitive art-lover, but also to anyone who wishes to steal a few moments of quietness from this chaotic world.

Wonderful sights – I not only like the very convenient location of this place, but the beauty within as well. It's a nice place for a first date, when you just want to chat and get to know each other in a calm setting.
