Reviews for Pain Management

I was a patient of Dr Haro for 8 YEARS, there were some waits when the Office & Doctor were truly busy (undoubtedly doing the extra talking & testing often needed by the ever phantom 'chronic pain' many of us suffer). But I was always treated by the Dr & his PA with the utmost respect; the front desk was often very unprofessional - having parties & going to lunches - as admins often will do in an office environment; they just forget that they have "people in pain" in their waiting room, or maybe they DON'T and are just basically uncomfortable with us - as we are with our PAIN. (You might have guessed that I'm an Admin, or was, medically retired, myself). If I was still in Austin, or if Dr. Haro would relocate to my little hick town - I'd be first in line to be in his waiting room!

Thanks for the years of caring.

Dr Haro is a great doctor – I have been seeing Dr Haro now for over 15 years. Sure, most of my appointments are with the PA's, but they always take the time to go over any new problems I may be having, making sure the medicine I'm taking is working and they are always familiar with my case. As far as Dr. Haro goes, whenever I do see him, he always knows everything about me before he steps into the exam room. He never guarantees that any procedure will definitely work and always makes sure that he explains everything in detail and answers all questions to my satisfaction. As far as having a long waiting time, if they didn't know what they were doing in his ofice they wouldn't have so many patients. I would recommend this office to anybody that has chronic pain and needs long term care.

worst pain doctor in austin – When I first saw Dr. Dasai I was immediatedly dissatisfied with him. He automatically changed my meds and told me that, in spite of what every other doctor i had seen told me, that this was not the cause of my pain. I gave him a chance to prove to me that he had a clue about what he was talking about. When i showed up for the first set of injections he treated me like a child then he couldnt even remember me!

Then when i spoke to him about the medications he put me on offering little relief from my pain he told me that he would not go back to what i was previously taking. Then to top it all when i called his office because of this debilitating pain and no relief he told the nurse to tell me that they would no longer presribe any opiate pain medicine and that i should be referred to an addiction specialist. Very negitive and for the two months i saw him i was placed on probation at work for missing too many days due to my back pain. Thanks for nothing Dr. Desai I too would not send my worst enemy to this man Shame on you Dr. Desai

oh yeah i forgot to mention that after the injectios he gave me my left hand is now numb and i have no feeling in my thumb

The worst experience I have ever had – I first saw Dr. Desai. He seemed nice enough. Prescribed the same pain medication that I was already on. I really did not want that. I wanted help. I did not receive that. What I got was a ration of stuff. Many times playing phone tag but waiting by the phone and never getting called back. A very nasty Medical assistant named Cathy was insistant that my urine showed Morphine. I offered to come in and take the test again insisting that I had never done morphine. I had however had surgery about 72 hours prior to the urine test. I tried to explain this to her. She was not listening to me. I did do some things wrong. But in my defense, I also tried numerous times to get in touch with Rachel the P.A. Never did. I guess she does not return phone calls. I took a urine test at my G.P. It tested for everything. The only thing that showed up was the medication that I was on. It was a horrible experience. I would not rec. this office to my worst enemy.

I found a pain management doctor that has helped me tremendously. Prescribing medication that actually helped.

Dr. Haro – Is a good Dr....plain and simple the man knows his stuff - I had been to doctors that couldn't diagnose my condition, he did within 8 - 10 months of treatment. His staff is professional and I recommend him.

I think those that wrote negative comments just got cut off their meds or something....

I wouldn't trust my health to another pain management physician in town – I usually don't write reviews but after reading the other 2 negative reviews, I felt compelled to give my opinion as well. I have been seeing Dr. Haro for 8 years now. He has never promised me a cure for my chronic pain. He has been the only doctor to listen me without dismissing me in the first 2 minutes. He has recommended different types of things to help me with my pain. Some have worked, some haven't. What he HAS asked of me is that I actively participate in my care. He didn't just prescribe meds and let me live my life in a daze like some other doctors in town. My family and I owe my quality of life to him.

Avoid. Period. – I have been having PAINFUL muscle spasms for years. Dr. Haro decided to inject some steroids directly into my spinal column. It was a very uncomfortable procedure, but he promised great results. Within a couple of days, my back went into serious spasm and I spent the evening at the ER in tears. The painful injection did absolutely nothing. I won't go back. Not to mention every time I went there, I had to wait a long, long time to see the Dr. Not a pleasant experience.

Poor service and bedside manner – I went to Dr. Haro for neck pain, but was extremely disappointed. I could never get through to the receptionist and always had to leave messages and play phone tag with her to make an appointment. The office staff is rather stupid and won't even call in a prescription for you. I always had to wait at least 20 minutes and more likely an hour and sometimes more to see the doctor or the PA. The worst part it is, they act like seeing Dr. Haro is like seeing the Wizard of Oz and instead make you see the PA who doesn't really know what is going on. She just tried to get me to take every medication she could think of and most didn't work. When I did get to see Dr. Haro he never took the time to talk to me and it was obvious he wasn't familiar with my case. I had several very serious procedures done there including RFC (?) and trigger point injections, both which made my condition worse. I will say for those the team is extremely efficient and nice, but Dr. Haro spends all of 2 seconds with you before sticking needles into your neck. When I asked him questions like "How long will the effects of the procedure last," he always gave vague answers and looked at his watch like he had somewhere to be. All in all I got no pain relief from this office except from the medications which just cover up the problem. I do not recommend this doctor at all!
