Great BBQ – Is it a dump or dive???? I've been to many dumps and dives and this place does not even qualify. What I found was a great atsmophere, a friendly and helpful staff, and outstanding food. The place had a mixture of locals and tourists alike. I'll surely go back here again and recommend Buster's to everyone.
Best BBQ in Austin – Who cares if the place is a dump? The food is great, people are friendly, and you don't need to wear your sunday best to enjoy a sunday meal. Great take out for parties and decent prices. Pretty far out location but trust me wen I say it's worth the drive.
Very good bbq, a lot better than the competition – If you can get past the view (or lack thereof) inside, you will love Busters. Very good food, sides, you name it. On a bad note, A bit chaotic with kids running everywhere and very run down inside. Kind of feels like mayberry in there and in the parking lot. Will order again and again via carryout.
Good bbq, even better sides, and did I mention cobbler? – Been here twice and both times have not been disappointed. Great brisket, pulled pork (garlic bomb, yum),
but for me I loved busters for the sides. The slaw was really fresh and the peach cobbler was perfect, still warm and tons of crusty cinammon. I have to disagree with the last reviewer about the people working there.. they were so helpful when we came on our first visit that they spent 5-10 minutes just explaining the way the menu works. They even gave us suggestions on how to save some cash and still try everything we wanted.
There's a large screen tv for sports, great for Sundays. One thing I do have to admit, however is the place is not the most attractive. It is very drab and dark in there and none of the chairs match (nor are they younger than 25 years old). Some of the chairs are even pretty torn, but you don't go to Busters for the ambience. You go there for the food. If this bothers you, do take out but don't pass on Busters.
NOT the best in the world. – It's pretty ballsy for them to put themselves out as the best in the world..the sign out front says so. It's in a VFW hall or what used to be one. If you've ever seen Sweet Home Alabama it kind of reminded me of the bar in Alabama that they all hung out in. The place was pretty busy and there were only 3 people working. A woman that was similar to the soup n*zi was working the counter, a guy that could have been her oldest son cooking and yelling at his son to get the food out. The poor kid. No one was bussing tables so it was just a mess. It's set up kind of like Rudy's but instead of all the picnic tables connecting, they were all scattered. The food came out pretty quick but the kid was just dripping sweat and I was praying to god he didn't drip all over our food. It wasn't his fault.. his dad (?) was making him work in the kitchen and run the food. It would have been better for him to be bussing tables and running the food, then he wouldn't have been so hot in the kitchen and sweating!! Well the BBQ sauce tasted like Heinz out of the bottle. Booo! I had Garlic, Jalapeno and Pork shoulder stuffed baked potato.. Well there were hardly any jalapenos and maybe 2 small garlic cloves.. (it would have been much better minced or chopped) and it seemed as though most of the potato had been gutted. The toppings were there but where was my potato? My friend John mentioned that the baked beans tasted like cat food smells. I'm pretty sure that's not a good thing. Final Word?: Keep driving.. pass this one by!!!
Local favorite serves traditional and new variations on barbecue. – In Short
Buster's serves sandwiches, po boys, and of course, multiple variations on barbecue to fill your hungry stomach. Pulled pork is doused with vinegar-pepper sauce and the Garlic Bomb is pork shoulder stuffed with fresh garlic and sliced. Specialty dishes feature sugar ducks (Long Island duckling rubbed with brown sugar and East Texas spice) and fresh semi-boneless quail (South Texas quail marinated with sweet onion and jalapeno honey). Sides include beans, potato salad, and cole slaw.
Fabulous Experience! – A new location as of 1-2 years ago. Need to look for it - business sign could be more prominent. A wonderful relaxing atmosphere - you'll leave satisfied both with the food and the setting. Large screen TV, comfortable chairs, big tables. Truly a place to relax and enjoy very good bar-b-que. The outdorr smoker and scent of brisket is intoxicating.
Great Q – I love this place. Great BBQ of all types. The pulled pork is my favorite, but you have to try the garlic bomb and H-bomb sandwiches. Also, a treat for spice...is to mix a little of the korean hot sauce in their cole slaw...wow...good stuff.
