Ask for Richard – When you go to I-Hop ask for Richard as your server. He is the best ever.

Food is great and service is excellent.

I highly recommend.

Breakfast served all day and pancakes served a variety of ways are the hallmarks of this diner-style restaurant. – In Short
The first International House of Pancakes opened in a suburb of Los Angeles in 1958 serving a menu of hearty breakfast favorites. Today the restaurant still serves its signature dishes like the original buttermilk pancakes and pigs in blankets: sausage links wrapped in hotcakes. Other breakfast items include waffles, omelets, French toast and crepes. Non-breakfast offerings include sandwiches, burgers, entree-sized salads, and dinners like T-bone steak, pot roast and herb-roasted chicken.

Service was terrible--waiter rude! – My family went to IHOP last night. Waiter seemed very nice @ first, but very overbearing. Since we were only ones there, asked if AC could be turned warmer as restaurant was freezing cold. Reply was "I can't do it but I''ll have to ask my manager. It never got any warmer. We asked about soup of day--was told there was none, but he went on to name all the salads & every dressing they had. I had ordered grits--never got them. When I asked about it, he got disgusted. Brought them--soon discovered that there was dry grits@ bottom of bowl. My daughter asked for a teabag--assuming she would get more hot water with it. About 10 min later, I asked for the same thing. He brought us each a teabag--but no hot water. When I asked for hot water for both of us--he got really disgusted. Went to the kitchen---we overheard him yell "they never asked for water--just teabags" . When pots of water came, was very rude & snide & water was luke warm. So disgusted, we never said anything. Picked up my husbands dishes & literally thru them in the dirty dish bucket. If we needed anything after first getting food, we had to flag him down. He refused to come to our table on his own. Brought us our bill, but never came back to collect for it. We took it to the front & had to wait for him to even recognize that we were there. Overall, our experience was TERRIBLE , food ok--hot tea NOT hot!! Waiter was obnoxious. Can not seem to handle more than a couple of tables---tries to be overly friendly.Has comments to make about every item ordered---and comments again when he brings food to table. Does not check back on tables. We had to ask for extra napkins & butter @ least twice to get any help. His name: Joel E. Will not go back to this IHOP. Usually have good service---definetely not this time. If this waiter was at any restaurant, I would refuse to eat there or to have him wait on us. Terrible experience!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Best Waiter in Austin, Texas = Balto at IHOP (MOPAC/Bee Caves) – Balto is the best.

Anyone who has suffered through the nightmare waitstaff at some of the "local" all-night cafes in Austin should visit IHOP at the MOPAC/Bee Caves location for the chance to see what a difference a professional waiter (or, at least, someone who takes pride in their work) will make in your life.

His name is Balto, and he simply takes care of business. He doesn't try to charm you or otherwise get familiar, he's just thoughtful enough to take care of your dining experience as efficiently as I've ever seen.

I went online so that I could send IHOP a word on his behalf and found the previous reviewer who exactly shares my regard for Balto... felt I had to echo the sentiment...

I refuse to go to the other "cafes" in Austin because I got tired of some angry, disaffected, tattooed, pierced, people-hating, malcontent who is inbetween doses of his/her "medicine" making me wonder what's happening to my food.

Balto puts yor mind at ease.

Balto is the best! – Balto is by far the best server in Austin. Grossly underappreciated he waits patiently on those who stop into the IHOP here at Mopac and Barton Springs. He remembers every single thing you say to the T and will bring you whatever your heart desires. This man should work for Trump. Always pleasant, always on top of things, supremely unrecognized for his extreme talent at excellent service - this is Balto. Hats off to you, IHOP. You have a true gem in this guy. He makes it worth the trip every time.
