Tiffany Sowersby is an outstanding stylist – Tiffany has been cutting and styling my hair for years, and I continue to follow her because she is simply the best at what she does! I've worn my hair short and long, and she has never failed to give me cuts that are flattering and current. I've gone to many stylists in Austin, and she is by far the very best. On top of that, she's pleasant, professional and pays attention to what the client needs. A real pleasure to visit! Plus, the friends I've recommended have been equally satisfied. Also, she gave me a fabulous Keratin treatment that has made styling my hair so much easier!

Kenny is the BEST! – I have been seeing Kenny for about 5 years and he is fantastic - he is incredibly talented and knows what will and won't work and is honest enough to tell you. We have gone form long and wavy to short pixie back to medium length wavy bob with subtle highlights and I have walked out of Mint feeling like a million bucks every time. Kenny is worth the wait and now I just tell him "do your thing" and he does!

Still don't understand what happened. – I really wanted to like Mint because it's in my neighborhood and looks cool. The people I met there also seem very nice. However, I went in the first time for color and said I wanted DARKER hair. Somehow, this resulted in highlights. The stylist fixed it and it looked great, but when I went to get the same darker low-lights again a few months later, I got highlights, AGAIN. They looked ok, but I just didn't know what to say when she said "we should go darker next time" at the completion of my appointment. I didn't want to get my hair processed twice again, so whatever.

I told the same stylist I was growing out my long bangs and short layers around my face. I just wanted a trim of the very nice haircut she gave me before respecting his fact. She proceeds to cut 1/3 of my hair the same length as the awkward bangs.

One more chance before taking business elsewhere, I grow out my hair for months and go for her to clean up and even out the weird layers. She cuts the key ones around my face short again, when I stated that I was still growing them out and to definitely NOT cut anything shorter than my face.

My whole life I have just found good stylists and trusted them. They are the ones with the training and should be able to guide people to styles that work while heeding their preferences. I thought I found this at Mint, but any conversation along those lines just seemed to confuse the situation. You shouldn't have to micromanage every snip at a nice salon.

Love my hair by Tiffany – I recently moved to Austin to attend UT. I always thought the salon was so cute when I saw it on my way to school. I decided to try it and Tiffany colored and cut my hair. She is great- she listened to me and I love my hair. I did a Kerastase treatment while I was there and my hair is so soft now!

DO NOT GO TO TIFFANY SOWERSBY – I went to colorist Tiffany Sowersby and got highlights. When I got home, I noticed that she missed coloring a lot of my roots in the back. I e-mailed her right away and asked if she could go over these spots. She said that she has a strict "no re-do" policy. I was not asking her to re-do the highlights or the color of the highlights, rather correct her mistakes so that I do not have to try and hide the black roots or pay someone else more money to correct it. I tipped well and she was not understanding. I believe that the customer should always be happy when you are starting off as a new colorist in a salon.

Melissa and Mint Review – I love this salon! It has it all - amazing, hard to find products, professional staff, smiling faces and great service. Best of all, it has Austin's collection of top notch stylists and colorists determined to give you exactly what you're looking for - an amazing look at an affordable price.

The sleek and beautiful environment mixes art deco, classic style and recycled hardwoods. The many windows, placed high and low, offer a natural light to the service areas, a great thing when getting color done! The service starts when walking in the door, continues through the shampoo (amazing massage), and doesn't finish until you've gotten in your car to leave. I love sitting in the sunlight with my drink, while laughing with my stylist as she does her thing.

Melissa is my stylist of choice, working with the natural body in my hair to offer a cut and style that will iron or blow-dry stick straight, as well as filled with body, either naturally curly or with irons/rollers - not to mention the many styles I can create with pins, elastics, etc. I also love the low maintenance look for the girl on the go. The cut she gave me covers it all! I love the versatility - and with each style, the shape and cut is flawless. (Did I mention her shampoo and style service? Awesome!)

Another time, Melissa did my color - bringing a warmth to my naturally dark hair shades by blending 3 related colors of highlights. She most certainly avoided the striped look I was so afraid of receiving. Her color placement was astounding - very strategic, very natural, very subtle, and her color choices were perfect, mixing just the right shades to add a little "umph" to my natural color.

I highly recommend this salon, and most definitely recommend Melissa!

don't listen – Hairstylist, and I don't want to tattle on which one, does NOT listen to client. Even after showing multiple pictures. This has happened twice. Once before those times got a great haircut by said hairstylist. But I would just be careful.

Best known secret in Austin - Deralyn, a stylist worth recommending! – Mint Salon has a great atmosphere along with a friendly welcoming staff. Deralyn gave me the best haircut I've ever had since having short hair! She understood what I wanted without me having to bring in a picture. She really has the experience of a great stylist. This is a stylist that I would highly recommend and have already when people give me compliments on my hair style.

Friendly, neighborhood beauty parlor – This is a very welcoming, friendly place to get your hair cut. I like it because it isn't too big or too noisy. They do great cuts and great color--especially color!
