I have used Mr. Bennett for many years. He has worked on my father's watch and many of mine. I have been pleased with the service and repairs that I have gotten.
September 24, 2012
In 2003, I traded my father's Datejust Rolex watch plus $541 for a lady's Rolex from Mr. Bennett. In August 2012, I sent my lady's watch to Rolex for service and was informed that the watch's movement was incorrect for that model and had been crammed into my watch to fit it, the bezel had been altered so the movement would fit, the crystal was not intended for my watch's model, and the watch had an incorrect date wheel. Rolex informed me it would cost $2,100 for the correct movement, $900 for the bezel, and $120 for the crystal.
When I contacted Mr. Bennett about my cobbled-together Rolex watch with parts from other models, he first denied that the movement was incorrect but offered to repair the crystal and other worn parts for a cost. After consulting with a Rolex expert, he later agreed that my watch had incorrect parts but refused to pay me for restoring my watch with the correct Rolex parts. He also admitted that his lack of knowledge about Rolex movements caused him to trade with me a cobbled-together lady's watch. Well, because of his lack of knowledge about Rolex watches and movements, I am now out $3,120, in addition to my father's Rolex and $541.
Watch repair – I can't believe the other review, My parents always had there watches and jewelery repaired by Mr. Bennett, and I started taking my watches to him once I was old enough to have a nice watch. I bought my wife's wedding ring from him too. He has always done a great job on all of our repair needs. He always welcomes all his customers w/ a smile, and you are instantly at ease with him. All repairs are done on site and you know who is working on your item.
I would and have recommended him to all my friends and will continue to have him work on my Rolex or any thing else I need.
Oh, I didn't even mention that he charges less that anyone else in the city to service my watch.
Terrible Service – I took in a charm bracelet to have 3 charms added. This job should've taken a day or two. I forgot about picking it up and called 11 days after dropping off. I was told my the very rude older man who I assume owns the shop, that it would be ready the following day. 3 days later when I went to pick it up, I was told that he was going to get started on it soon. A total of 14 days and it was never touched.
