Cozy breakfast hangout in a hidden N. Austin shopping center. I always love the lunch specials and the coffee, of course!! Grab a cup and a breakfast taco for a cheap and easy breakfast.

Cozy, north Austin neighborhood spot serves affordable homestyle meals and supports local culinary artisans. – In Short
The charming setting and staff make you think you're in a friend's kitchen. Local art covers the walls above booths and table/counter seating. Employees know the regulars, who include families, couples and students from nearby ACC. Buttermilk pancakes are infused with subtle cinnamon. Migas overflow with chips and cheddar cheese. Several salads are available, as is low-calorie honey mustard dressing. The tuna melt with egg, celery, onion and Swiss cheese is on hearty grain bread.

The specials are a hoax – We had ordered their pancake specials and told the waiter to bring it at the end of our meal. Then when we wanted our order he comes up and tells us that they no longer have it. We were disappointed but let it go.

The next time they had that special we took our whole family to have it. Again they told us they had it and behold the same thing happened all over again.

So much for that. We have been going there for the last ten years but not any more.

So if want to go there then that is fine but if you see anything you like on the specials board, you might as well forget it. It is for display only or some kind of a gimmick. Just a way to get people in and since you are there anyway, you'll end up eating something else.

Best Breakfast In Town – We have visited loads of places in Austin for a good breakfast on a weekend morning - and this was the best one we could find. Great Breakfast - Great Cappuccino - very friendly staff and superb atmosphere.

Best Kept Secret in Town – I don't want this place to be discovered by the masses because then it will lose its charm and become overly populated with patrons. This is a great place, consistent food quality, great breakfast fare, wonderful pancakes, excellent omelettes, friendly and attentive staff. I could go on but I won't because I just don't want to share this place and end up waiting in line for 40 minutes like people do at Magnolias. Don't tell anyone!

True "Austin" up North – The typical "Austin" establishment that prides itself on an ecclectic nature is not-so-common up in the suburbs. This little gem, however, stands out as a hub for North Austin breakfast. The fare is reasonably priced and certainly satiates. Their atmosphere is somewhat cozy -- bordering on cramped during weekends, and the service could use some help with those times. For the location and value, a top seed. Oh, and I can't forget -- absolutely *outstanding* coffee.

Delicious, warm environment – Cafe Java is wonderful! I went there once with my cousin, and have been going there ever since. The employees are the nicest people you could ever meet. The food is delicious.
