Spoiled Friday Night Dinner at Bangkok Cuisine=Thai Passion – I and my sweet heart were about to have a fantastic Friday night dinner. We were passing by the Bangkok Cuisine (present Thai Passion) and decided to go in to try it -why not? The place looked nice-elegant, white starched table cloth, but.... there were very few people. This was the first sign of bad luck which was about to arrive. The waitress was very indifferent and uninterested in being friendly with us. The firepot of soup we ordered was nothing more than lemongrass flavored thin water with lots of uncooked coarsely chopped onions and tough pieces of white chicken flesh. We ordered the entree consisting of grilled beef, tons of uncooked coarsely chopped onions and lettuce. Where in the world did one see grilled beef which was very tough and looked very pale like a corps-NO COLOR!!!! It tasted terrible!! Asian cuisine is famous for its bright attractive colors and flavorful spicy taste- forget about this in Thai Passion-you will not find it there... On top of it, both of us had upset stomach and spoiled evening afterwards. One must look for real great quality Thai food elsewhere, perhaps Houston or New York...

Hmmmm.... – Hmmm....

Satay was made up of very bland pieces of chicken, apparently cooked and then spent few seconds on a grill to get a few stripes plus a peanut sauce, best of Walmart, I guess.

Panang Curry Chicken, same bland pieces of boiled chicken in a watery soup dish full of green beans and 4 small pieces of green pepper. It was a soup, and not a very good one at that. Color, taste and consistency was not the worst I have had, but close. There are places in Poland.......

Service was quick, maybe too quick. 5 more minutes to find better ingredients would have been wisely spent. And service was smiling and friendly.

Strongly Recommended. – I have been eating here for a long time and love this place. I have probably had the lunch buffet 30 times and have never been disappointed. There is always something different rotating in. My favs are the pad thai, chicken, fish, red and green curries and the fried spinach. The soup is always good too. Also they make a black sticky rice with coconut milk for dessert which has just the right sweetness with a touch of saltiness. Very, very good for lunch. And honestly, I hate buffets because they tend to be quantity over quality and get left out and soggy or dry. Not so with Bangkok!

Thai strip mall veteran retains loyal clientele. – In Short
Located in a strip center at Burnet and 183, Bangkok Cuisine is one of the oldest Thai restaurants in town, and belies its modest exterior by creating another world inside. Subdued blue and lavender walls, soft light and myriad sculptures of Thai gods and goddesses relay diners to a peaceful setting in Southeast Asia. The menu features tom yum soup, beef satay, Thai green curry and roasted duck with cashews and water chestnuts.

Eat HERE! – If you like Thai food, you'll LOVE Bangkok Cuisine. My husband and I are always the first ones there, because I just can't wait if I know it's Thai night.

Best Thai food in Austin! – I wouldn't eat Thai anywhere else. Small, intimate setting. Huge menu. Great dessert,

got to try the mango with sticky.

THe Best Pad Thai! – I will definitely return here. The service was attentive and courteous, and the food was great. We had the chicken sate, chicken fried rice, and pad thai. Especially good were the peanut and cucumber sauces with the sate, and the best pad thai i've had in austin.

For ambience, keep in mind it is in a strip mall.
