Good service, pricey drinks – I'm not usually one for pubs, but the service here was great. I ended up having a pretty neat conversation with the bartender. The drinks were totally overpriced though. Not sure if just friendly service is worth their prices.
Eh. – Happy Hour on a Thursday. About 5 patrons. Overpriced Heffe: $5. Bartender provided little conversation.
They have big screen tv's, at least.
Saddest Guinness ever poured... – The saddest pint poured, ever. My friend and I were served a Guinness in a plastic drinking cup and my Murphys came in a can...for $5.50 each. Yesterday it was St Patrick's Day. The bartender slopped the cup down and spilled all over the bar. They "ran out of glasses." An insult to the Irish spirit. On St. Patrick's Day, we both agreed we would have had a better pour at the airport lounge, or possibly at a ballpark.
Good for a nice laid back drink – The bartenders treat everyone like they're locals, always attentive and ready to tell a joke. I've always enjoyed going there because the atmosphere is laid back and a favorite to locals, if you go, ask for a Mussollini, the tastiest drink they make.
I wish I could say better things – But this place is very ordinary. The Irish flavor is barely there. Aside from the bar the space is not much even with the fireplace. The bumper pool is just in the way. If you want a relatively quiet place to have a drink your fine.
A large fireplace and friendly service keep patrons warm at Rockridge's historic Irish pub. – The Scene
This is the oldest Irish pub in Oakland (established 1933). Dark-wood tones and a long bar give the place a classic feel. The centerpiece of the room is a huge stone fireplace. Decorations include European sports paraphernalia, a framed portrait of JFK and a sign counting the days until St. Paddy's day. Irish bartenders keep folks happy with fast, friendly service.
This is not a sports bar, but patrons watch two TV monitors closely when games are on. During the school year, this place gets crowded on weekend nights with UC Berkeley students blowing off steam. Most other times, it's a simple neighborhood watering hole for Rockridge locals. A bumper pool table provides a unique diversion, while Elvis and the Beatles dominate the jukebox.
fireplace and freindly barpeople – They have a great fireplace that burns REAL logs, friendly bar staff that are quick with a joke and with a drink.
They even have an outdoor smoking patio, and a back room that looks like some friendly nieghbor's garage, complete with card tables, small television, and posters tacked up on the walls...
a very comfortable and warm place to sit a while.
