Ambassador Amarillo was very good for my business stay – The Ambassador Hotel in Amarillo, TX, was very good for my business stay. They had many convenient amenities, like wireless Internet access and conference rooms.
The concierge was very helpful and check-in and check-out went very smoothly. This hotel is priced a tad bit higher than others in the area, but well worth it. I didn't really look into other options since I heard this full-service hotel was most convenient for my purpose of business.
This Ambassador Hotel is located within 20 minutes of Amarillo's main airport, so it is very convenient for short trips.
The rooms were very clean and spacious. The indoor pool was un-expectantly big. There was also a big fitness center, perfect for working out and hiding from the Amarillo humidity. There are also several area restaurants that deliver to the hotel, adding to the convenience factor.
My kids and dog loved the Ambassador hotel – We decided to take the kids to see their grandmother in Amarillo. We've seen this hotel on previous trips but never stayed and decided to stay this time. The kids wanted to bring the new addition to the family, Bugsy, who is a little pug. Figured why not. The Ambassador came up in one of my many searches as a very pet friendly hotel so we gave it a shot. Upon arrival the front desk agents were very nice and welcoming, fawning over our puppy - I knew immediately we were in a good place. As honestly was stressing me out a bit as I've never traveled with a dog before. There are plenty of places to walk the dog and no you don't have to get in your car and drive to them. The Ambassador has a great pool, plenty big to satisfy the kid and adult pool goer. Everything is nicely kept and the people were very nice. I wish I would have gotten some of the names of the people we encountered as I would put them in this review! Breakfast was great, very hearty and everything you would need and then some. Thank you Ambassador for making our stay in Amarillo really nice.
Wonderful Experience – I got a room at The Ambassador through Hotwire and paid $72.00 including taxes and fees.
This is a wonderfully elegant hotel. The staff is professional and courteous. The room was comfortable, clean and spacious.
I'm a little on the lean side, but I can put away plenty of food, and the breakfast buffet was both plentiful and delicious!
I have nothing negative to say about this little gem in Amarillo, but just a word of caution to anyone who has difficulty in dealing with children: I stayed only one night on 3/17/11 and there were plenty of families and children. In fact, the indoor pool was crowded with kids at 9:30 p.m. The next morning, on my way down to breakfast I caught an elevator with two young boys. It took a while to get down to the lobby because they had pushed every button on the panel.
I have no problem with kids. I hope I'm just as silly when I'm 80 years old as I was when I was 12 and as goofy as I am today.
Another great stay at the Ambassador-Amarillo – Last year we chose to stay at Ambassador Hotel while passing through on our way to skiing in New Mexico. Of course, for this year's annual trek, we returned to the best Amarillo hotel. They are offering these awesome ski rates. You do have to call the hotel directly, but it is well worth it. Our family was able to get a rate under $90. My wallet loved that. Even better, the hotel now offers a complimentary hot breakfast buffet, so nice when you have hungry teenagers.
The staff was as friendly as we remembered, and were able to place us in the same type of deluxe room as our last stay. The room was large and comfortable. Our kids remembered the flat screen television and were glad to see it again! This family friendly Amarillo hotel has an indoor pool which is always a plus when traveling with your kids.
We highly recommend the Ambassador Hotel in Amarillo, and look forward to staying there again in 2011!
This Amarillo Hotel is affordable and works for a single Dad – I’m a Dad on my own with two kids. We live near Amarillo, and this is our third trip to the Ambassador Hotel. It is just right for us! This trip was especially nice for me because the hotel was offering a very affordable “back to school” package. What a great way to end our summer.
The kids thought the “goodie bags” with snacks & activities were cool, but really loved that the pool hours were extended. What really worked for my wallet was that our package included 2 kid’s dinners at the TGI Friday’s in the hotel, and two discount tickets to the kids’ favorite places….Wonderland Park and the Discovery center.
The staff is always friendly and the rooms have plenty of space for the three of us. Ambassador Hotel in Amarillo makes it easy and affordable for me to have great adventures with my kids. Thanks to you all.
Rated #1 in my book for a reason! – No complaints at all about the Ambassador Hotel in Amarillo, Texas!!! We stayed with 2 small children, my wife and my elderly parents. Everyone enjoyed the comfort of the rooms, the indoor pool and the incredible breakfast buffet (which was better than most we have experienced at other "chain" hotels). Even better was the "staycation" package that we booked. It included two children's meal at the TGI Friday that is connected to the hotel.
The Ambassador Hotel also had the friendliest and most professional staff that I have ever encountered, and I travel for business every week, even though this trip was strictly for pleasure with my family. The 2 guestrooms we stayed in were immaculately clean and very well kept. Each had all of the amenities that you would expect from a hotel of this caliber. The free high speed internet was definitely a plus and not always received these days.
The value was excellent and the location is just right. We were close to area restaurants and a short drive to Palo Duro Canyon, a great discovery center, and Cadillac Ranch. Of course, my parents enjoyed visiting Historic Route 66. I would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone heading to Amarillo, Texas.
The Ambassador Hotel is true southern hospitality – We’ve had enough of this staycation stuff, we just had to pack up and get out of town. So my husband and I decided to take our two kids to Texas in our version of the Griswald’s Family Vacation. One of our stops was at the lovely Ambassador Hotel located in Amarillo. We couldn’t have been happier with our stay. Being a little road tired we checked in and let the kids swim in their great indoor pool. We loved that the hotel had a TGI Friday’s, it was just right for this family of four. After dinner, the kids took another dip in the pool. The front desk staff took great care of us, and offered suggestions for area activities that our kiddos would enjoy. The breakfast buffet is outstanding and they have the best cooked-to-order pancakes! The rooms are very comfortable, exceptionally clean and the hotel is well maintained. The manager and all the staff obviously care about the hotel and the guests that occupy it. The Ambassador Hotel is truly southern hospitality at its finest – and in little ‘ole Amarillo. Who would have guessed!
Best Bet in Amarillo – We are a family with two children, ages 5 & 7 and have stayed at the Ambassador Hotel many times through the years. In Amarillo, by far this is the best bet. During our stays the rooms have always been clean and nicely decorated. Even before they remodeled a few years back the rooms were nice. Beds are comfortable and it’s a great place to call home while in Amarillo.
Our children love staying at the Ambassador, and actually look forward to stopping here on our way to New Mexico. Swimming in the indoor pool is the highlight of their trip. Service is excellent. Made service is reliable, and the check-in staff are very friendly.
The breakfast buffet is the best that we’ve ever had in a hotel. The items are fresh and the made to order omelet’s and pancake are a huge hit. The buffet has something for everyone!
We feel that we can always count on the Ambassador Hotel for a pleasant stay.
Wonderful stay at a beautiful hotel – Stayed at the Ambassador Hotel-Amarillo when I went to visit my daughter at college. She and two friends came and stayed with me, and all were pleased. Arrived about 10 pm on Friday night and was greeted very warmly by the staff. Knowing I would need a room large enough for four, I booked one of the suites that are located on their Concierge Level. Our suite was very spacious and well-appointed. The girls had a separate bedroom with double beds and we so enjoyed having a separate living area to hang out in. One evening we decided to stay in, watch movies, and order room service. It is my understanding that the TGI Friday’s at the hotel takes care of their room service orders. They did a great job and we were all full and happy.
We ate breakfast at Heritage Park and it was wonderful. The cooked-to-order omelet was fresh and delicious, as were the other bountiful selections. Visits to the fitness center were a must after indulging at breakfast. The girls loved the fitness center and indoor whirlpool.
Both mornings we encountered housekeeping staff as we walked to breakfast and they were very cheerful and friendly.
The Ambassador Hotel is outstanding, and the location is convenient to the airport. Next time I visit, I will not need to rent a car because they offer a free shuttle from the airport.
With three years left of college, you can guess where I’m going to stay when I come back to Amarillo to visit my daughter-The Ambassador Hotel!
Ambassador Hotel-Amarillo is a good place, I enjoy it – I stayed at the Ambassador Hotel twice in July, and many times in the past with my work. I think the furnishings in the rooms had a re-vamp recently, but I have not experienced most of the complaints listed in earlier reviews at this hotel. The rooms are large and well lit if you have outside windows. Some rooms overlook the indoor 5 story atrium containing the lobby, hotel restraunt and pool so those can be a little dim without room lights on. The beds are comfortable with good linens, and the desk/chairs/TV/AC are all of average to above average hotel quality. The bathrooms are small but clean and well stocked. I actually have had one instance of a slow tub drain here but I have also had that experience at many other hotels. The staff is friendly and helpful and the Fridays Restraunt attached to hotel has good food and a nice bar area. The workout room by the pool has pretty good cardio equipment. I don't know about the business center because the WIFI is excellent everywhere in the hotel so I use my laptop. I think there is a router on every floor, so sometimes you have to search out the best connection. I travel almost every week and stay in hotels of all stripes. This place is good, I enjoy it.
