Great food, outstanding customer service!. Went for a birthday party and was pleasantly surprised! One of the best filets I have ever had! Served up with bleu cheese crumbles... yummy! Full bar with excellent wait staff. Full kid's menu. Tasty desserts. You'll definitely leave with a satisfied belly! Friendly atmosphere, centrally located - two thumbs up!!

Awful!. One of the worst experiences eating out ever. Sides were cold. Steak was tough and improperly cooked to order. Service was slow. Nothing special about the atmosphere either.

Not Worth the Price. I am not averse to spending good money for good food: on the contrary, I think that a special night out warrants spending more money than usual. However, I was disappointed with Black Angus' food. The steak was good, but not amazing. The appetizer was big, but very blah. The service was excellent, and the staff very attentive, but the food just did not warrant the price. It was nothing special--more like eating at Texas Roadhouse or Applebee's. I strongly recommend spending your time and money elsewhere. The only highlight was the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Cake--it was delicious and moist, served a la mode with a small pitcher of Hot Fudge.

Meat is good.... Had the Wagon Wheel appetizer--potato skins, breaded zucchini, spicy wings, and shrimp cocktail; all was great except the potato skins were over-cooked and bit tough to eat.

The prime rib was cooked perfectly to order. It was moist and did not have too much fat on it. The portion was hearty. The veggies were cooked perfectly--not soggy and not too crunchy.

For dessert we had the chocolate encrusted cake with a scoop of ice cream and a cup of hot fudge. The cake needed a larger portion of ice cream--the cake was a little on the dry side.

The server was prompt and responsive and there was no wait.

Tasty Meat!. The only time I go to Black Angus is when I have a coupon because the place is quite pricey.

I have had the prime rib lunch numerous times and I have been very satisfied with the meal. The prime rib has always been tender and moist. The veggies have consistently been cooked just right (not too mushy, not too hard), and the loaf of wheat/oat bread has always been fresh and warm. All portions are generous for lunch.

The service has been consistently prompt.

I would suggest using coupons that come out almost every Sunday in the Tribune for Black Angus, otherwise I don't know that the prices are worth what you receive.

glass in the potatoes?. Recently I had a client who wanted to meet for lunch. When he recommended Black Angus, I have to admit that I was a bit surprised and taken back. The last experience I had at Black Angus consisted of slow service followed by slower service. However, that was just the start. Imagine my surprise when my wife pulled a large piece of glass (obviously from a broken cup) out of her mouth after eating a biteful of mashed potatoes. Luckily she wasn't cut. Again, this was some time ago, and the manager on duty was "kind enough" to get her a replacement meal for her "glass trimmed" feast. Well, this is where the client suggested so I guess we will give it another try. Mind you I won't be getting the potatoes. .)
