Who are these people?????? – Can't agree with the lady or guy who said they had every appetizer and it was crappy and they did not like anything. Holy God.....Where does this obvious ski group eat that is so much better than this?? I agree that it is expensive but nobody asked you to go there every night. It is a special occassion restauarant and popular with most people in Park City. Great mushroom soup and the entrees are fine. Can't even imagine what they thought of the other restaurants in town.

Good, could be great – We dined with Grappa on 9/10/10 for our second wedding anniversary, wanting to try something new. I enjoy the restaurants in Park City, including affiliated restaurants Wahso and Chimayo, but I had never been to Grappa. As such, we made a reservation in spite of the somewhat ambivalent reviews. We were very impressed with the hospitality and the location: the restaurant is in a beautiful little historic multi-level building near the top of Main Street. We sat on the second floor looking down main, we were seated promptly, and the service was very attentive and friendly throughout our meal. We started with an assortment of Italian olives, marinated in olive oil herbs and citrus - it came with "grissini" which are breadsticks. As far as olives go, these were particularly tasty. We enjoyed a traditional Caprese (heirloom tomatoes, Mozarella, basil, Balsamic vinegar) - not very exciting, but very good. The Grape and Gorgonzola salad (Roasted Walnuts and a Red Wine Vinaigrette) was delicious - the grapes counterbalanced the slight bitterness of the salad perfectly. A tomato soup (with marinated cherry tomatoes) was unremarkable, but loyal to its chief ingredient. A mushroom soup could be described the same way - if you like mushroom, this is your ticket, but it wasn't anything to write home about. Ravioli (Braised veal, beef, and pork, basil, chives, parsley tomato sauce) was okay, not amazing, and the Risotto was a little strange - kind of like a stroganoff flavor with a piece of shrimp and a mussel. A lovely lemon-yogurt sorbet with a mint leaf cleansed our palates, and our main entrees followed: a Pork Chop (very good, best when a bite was paired with the golden raisins and pickled red onion) and a Grilled bavette steak (paired strangely with very bitter and salty brocollini and some kind of bean). The reduction served with each meat entree was delicious, but their accompaniments were lacking - the potatoes served with the pork were bland, and the beans/brocollini served with the beef were odd. The meat was delicious however. Dessert was a refreshing Panna Cotta (rasperries, strawberries, sauce, and the interesting addition of small cubes of raspberry gelatin) and a Chocolate Mousse cake with a refreshing hit of orange.

Overall, I enjoyed my experience at Grappa, but something was missing. I wanted to be amazed by the food for the prices charged, but everything was just okay. It's the kind of place that I'm happy I patronized, but I won't be in a hurry to return. The ambience is lovely, the wine list is extensive, but the food needs a little more creativity - you can tell that the chef was striving for simple goodness, and he succeeded in a few areas, but could do with a little more creativity.

Not recommended – While in Park City to ski, we opted for dinner at Grappas. The dining room is quaint and cozy and while me and my companion were seated at an odd two-top next to a pillar, the view to the street and side yard was nice. The food and service were very disappointing. The appetizers and soup were fine, but when my entree arrived (parmesean encrusted salmon) the salmon was completely raw underneath the breadcrumbs and parmesean. When I sent it back, the server rudely indicated that "we cook our fish medium and that's not to everyone's liking". When it came back it was still completely uncooked and unedible, but on the third try they did manage to cook the fish to medium. While the server remained rude, the manager had the good graces to remove the salmon from the bill, but the dining experience was ruined. Based upon the poor service, unskilled kitchen staff and chef, and the price, I cannot recommend Grappas. The soup was decent, so I give it one star.

Grappa = Crappa. – Absolutely the WORST restaurant I have ever been too. An Italian restaurant with no pasta.

1) Overpriced. $40 entrees with only about 5 to choose from.

2) Poor Customer Service. Had a problem with the wine, they would not budge.

3) Cramped environment. The waiter could not even reach my side of the table.

4) Food quality was atrocious. We ordered 1 of each appetizer, didn't enjoy any of them.

5) Bad idea for your birthday. No birthday cake. With a $300 bill, you'd expect cake.

STAY AWAY.

Not worth your $$$ – The service did not match the $40+ entrees. We were completely unaware that the menu was "fixed" and pre-set. The website did not show that information, the reservationists did not mention it, and the confirmation email did not have that info. I called the manager to see if there's anything that he can do to change this, and he said "No." If you're managing a restaurant, the worst thing you can say to a guest is "No." There's always a solution if you're not lazy.

The best food in Park City – I recently returned to Grappa after being a non-believer for the last couple of years. I had an experience not unlike some of the other reviewer's and just stayed away. Some friends of mine last winter wanted to dine there and I agreed against my better judgement. Well the experience was a complete 180 degrees from the last one! The food was terrific, the staff friendly and effeicient and the manager even stopped by our table several times to make sure everything was right.

I recently dined there on the patio and let me tell you I have not had a better ambiance or experience in my 20+ years of dining out. The server told us the chef was new and the food was proof that a young, excited chef is behind the wheel now. The osso bucco fell off the bone and was so full of flavor! The salads are huge and the portions on all the entrees are equally large and full of value. The scallops dish was equally delightful.

The kids choices are limited but our server, on the last visit, made several suggestions that fit right on with our children even though they were not on the menu. Again, the staff, excellent!

A tip: In the summer the local newspapers carry coupons for Grappa (and the other stores in thier group) offering great discounts!

SO DISAPPOINTING! OVERPRICED AND HORRIBLE MENU – My husband and I dined here last night and are still appaled at the menu. First of all - entrees are priced from $38 - $48 PER PLATE. Are you kidding me??! This restaurant would be laughed out of New York City where we're from. We don't mind paying a lot for good food, but this is HORRIBLE. The menu options are limitted and fit for fattening up farm animals. Chicken wrapped in proscciuto sauteed in creme fraiche is one of the healthiest options on the menu.

Additionally - the $16 ceaser salad was too small to be considering a child's portion. My husband actually had them take the salad back - we refuse to be taken advantage of, and this is exactly what Grappa does - they prey on "tourists" to Deer Valley who they assume to be millionaires and don't care being ripped off.

The bread (which they call "foccacia" - still laughing at that one) was cold, and the wine is THIRTEEN DOLLARS A GLASS.

SAVE YOUR MONEY - ORDER IN ROOM SERVICE! What a joke!

Regional Italian fare served in an intimate setting in the heart of Park City's Old Town. – In Short
Dine overlooking the lights of Main Street in what used to be the old Alpine Prospector Lodge. A rich Tuscan interior design features lush vines and swags with grape leaves. Start with the calamari friti appetizer served with lemon caper aioli and fresh marinara. Main courses include regional Italian favorites like chicken saltimbocca, osso bucco and lasagna made with lamb tenderloin. Top off a meal with creme brulee, tartufo or glass of grappa.
