belly up to the sushi bar – ...and get ready for a treat to your taste buds! Best sushi and best sushi chefs in all of Utah. These guys truly know their craft.
Kampai was Fantastic – Our favorite, since it opened, has been Takashi in SLC. However, on 2/4/06, my wife, friends and I ate at Kampai apre skiing at Park City. Everything was terrific. The On Death Roll is hotter that hot but oh so tasty. The Shishito peppers appetizer was great. The tuna was so purple it looked like it just jumped out of the ocean. The service was very good and the wait staff friendly. Although Kampai won't replace Takashi on my favorite list, when in PC, try Kampai. You won't be sorry.
Super Duper Sushi – This could possibly be the freshest fish Ive ever tasted, The rolls were superb. Although I found it interesting that no one spoke japanes and that koreans owned this establishment. The prices were descent and the service was very good.
Take your appetite somewhere else – Unfortunately, we went to Kampai for a friend's b-day (after seeing it on this site). Dinner started off badly when the server threatened to charge us $100 because we made a reservation for 10 but a couple of people ended up not joining us. And things then got progressively worse from there. She even had the nerve to tell us that we hadn't spent enough (because we didn't order any alcohol). The food was pretty good and the prices were reasonable but the server's behavior made it one of the worse dining experiences I've ever had.
Never Again... – The night was great! I had no complaints...then I walked in the doors of Kampai. I have never been treated so poorly at a restaurant. We were celebrating a special event and were excited to try out Kampai. I regret our restaurant selection. The food was fair and fairly priced, but the value of our dining experience dropped with the service. I have never experienced such rudeness from a server. Had I not been starving, I would have walked out. Don't make the mistake I did. Get your sushi elsewhere.
WORST DINING EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE...... – I am still in shock on how badly the waitress at Kampai treated my friends and me. You think a restaurant would take care of a group of customers spending a couple hundred of dollars, WRONG!!!!!!! The food wasnt that good and I could live with the overly priced small portions, but the service was unbearable. The waitress was upset at out group for not ordering alcohol and only checked on us once during out dinner to see if things were ok. Never before have I been afraid of a waitress..... My advice to you NEVER GO THERE!!!!!!!!
Food was Delicious – I got the Vegetable Udon and Tempura and I think I might have gotten 6 pieces of vege Tempura, a very full bowl of broth without the proper balance of noodle.
The atmosphere was less than friendly and not quite up to par with the prices and quality of food.
If you don't mind trading ambiance and adequate portions for food quality, then this is the place for you.
better sushi/service elsewhere – I have tried twice to take advantage of the half price maki rolls for lunch at Kampai. On both occasions, I have had an embarrassing discussion with the server regarding whether or not I was eligible to receive the discount. Note to Kampai: If you advertise a 50% discount in the newspaper, you don't require the customer to apply for a membership upon arrival to enable them to receive the discount on their next visit. So much for second chances.
I would rather pay full price for great sushi at the Flying Sumo.
LOVE IT!! – WE LOVE THIS PLACE! KIDS LOVE TO GO SIT AT THE SUSHI BAR AND ARE ALWAYS WELCOMED AND TREATED GREAT. NOT MANY SUSHI BARS HAVE MUCH PATIENCE FOR KIDS. THE FOOD IS ALWAYS GREAT. IT IS ALWAYS A PLEASURE.
Laid-back and unpretentious--a welcome break from the plethora of overpriced Park City establishments. – The Scene
What you'd picture a working class, neighborhood Japanese diner to be. Modest wooden chairs and tables; paper birds and dragonflies and Japanese prints decorate the colorful walls; thousands of little white Christmas lights are nestled in the ceiling--like a starry sky above your head.
A great spot for both newcomers to the world of sushi and connoisseurs. Sukiyaki, teriyaki, curry rice and tempura are served as well as a complete menu of sashimi (5 varieties) and sushi (21 varieties). The sashimi sampler plates are a great way to try between five and nine different fish assortments.
