The total chocolate icecream experience – I wanted to write a review specifically about this location
Hmmm... which 'con' to start out with first.... How 'bout the biggest offender?:
I don't know about other Dairy Queen locations, since they are extremely far and few in between, but this location randomly has problems with their soft serve chocolate icecream machine. You think you are going to get your chocolate icecream dipped in chocolate, or regular choc. soft serve, only to hear them say "oh we aren't serving chocolate icecream at this time." or "our chocolate icecream machine is broken." I was stoked that the location re-opened hoping that the "new management" had the chocolate icecream problems under control but NOPE! And so you know, it's usually later at night that there is very high risk that they don't serve chocolate icecream any longer that day. So, I'd say you are pushing it after ... 7pm area? I know because there are many many years of experience with this between me and someone I know. I am only a chocolate icecream person. NO vanilla :p And when this Dairy Queen location tells me that they don't have chocolate icecream, I do not get anything and I leave. I know others who do the same. Dairy Queen is the best alternative if you don't want to go to Leatherby's or another expensive icecream location. And it's such a shame that there aren't more Dairy Queens around to find a location that is more taken care of. I heard that DQ doesn't make more chocolate icecream later in the day when they run out because they have to end up throwing whatever is left away, at night. You know, not to make more to save money all the while customers get upset when they went out of their way to that location for their chocolate fix. Yes I know saving money wins out, but oddly enough it's at a price... of ironically turning customers away,.... to not spend their money there.
And another pitfall at this location I experienced once was that when they were "open" for business early in the day, they weren't ready to sell me icecream.
2nd, this part is not so much about the location specifically:
And also be aware that their blizzard of the month, Chocolate Brownie batter is fake chocolate icecream. Without the simple laziness of the workers just pouring in a cup some chocolate soft serve icecream, they pour in vanilla and squirt in chocolate syrup, -then- they mix in the chocolate (then later the brownie bits). I know this because there were ribbons of vanilla icecream visible. So, not entirely mixed well to fool the customer better. And I guess "brownie batter" is meant as just the chunks of brownie, NOT extending to the flavor of the icecream. A shame, because I've HAD chocolate batter flavored icecream before and it's divine! And I could almost swear that's how they made this blizzard the last time it was the flavor of the month. It was completely unsatisfying to know I was eating fake chocolate icecream though admittadly it did taste fine. I am a REAL chocolate lover and the fact that more restaurants are pushing fake chocolate icecream products, the more it turns me off to buy their product.
The ONE pro about the Brownie Batter blizzard is the brownie chunks. They sure aren't stingy on that product and that part is good.
Maybe I should stop wondering why there aren't more DQ locations.
REAL chocolate lovers UNITE! YOU are not a REAL chocolate lover if these things don't make you take your business elsewhere. It's not just DQ, I know more and more restaurants that are now skimming the corners on their icecream products as well. Customers are noticing, and they talk. It's seriously getting to the point to where it's time to just give in and buy a chocolate bar instead.
A soft-serve ice cream haven for little league teams, teenagers and families. – In Short
Vanilla and chocolate soft-serve ice cream is the foundation for this chain's popular sundaes, banana splits, peanut butter parfaits, milkshakes and chocolate-dipped Dilly Bars and cones. Blizzards made with such candies as M&M's, chopped up Butterfingers or Reese's Cups are a well-loved favorite.
