Nudity does not enhance South Pacific production. I just viewed "South Pacific" at the Capitol Theatre. The music and staging was fantastic but I felt that the audience should have been warned in advance about the full nudity in the production. If it had been a movie it would have been rated R. I was so glad that my teenage grandchildren were not able to attend. The nudity was not essential to the plot and left a bad taste in my mouth. I am no longer confident that I can depend on Capitol Theatre management to schedule performances that I am willing to view.
Great Venue. A really great place to see a top flight show at reasonable prices.
Utah's glorious home to the performing arts..
In Short
Capitol Theatre is home to the Utah Opera Company, Ballet West, and Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company. Touring Broadway plays and other events sponsored by outside promoters are also performed at the theater. When "Les Miserables," "Phantom of the Opera," and other road-show spectacles come through town, the Capitol Theatre is where they camp. Opening nights are an event; though in the way of dress, you'll see everything from furs to jeans.
EXCELLENT. This was the first Ballet I was able to take my daughters too. It was inspiring to us all. The talent of the young children was breathtaking. It gave me hope that the Arts are still alive in our young.
Always the best!. Capital Theatre is the best in Utah. I have enjoyed ballets, opera's, and concerts that this great place.
Marvelous Splendour!!!. It was truely an unforgettable experience. My fiance and I saw Saturday's Voyeur. It was a phenomenal performance. The building it's self is beautiful. I honestly think every seat in the house has to be a good one. You must see a perfomance at this theatre. We loved it and will return always!
Beautiful theater. This opulent old theater is a beautiful place to see the ballet, a play or a concert. The acoustics are good--Alison Krauss was wonderful when she played here--and it's the place to see touring productions like Aida and Les Miserables.
Good Fun. Great place to see a play! We have seen many events here and they are always very good.
