Su casa is Amazing! – I went to the one on state st in Midvale, the building doesnt look all that inspiring, but the tables were comfortable, the menu had a lot to choose from. My husband had a burrito i had a shredded pork taco, and my cousin had enchiladas, the plates were huge very large portions, no one could finish their plates there were tons of fresh crisp veggies on all plates and all sauces or dips you could want. even the drinks were pretty big we just had soda . the waitress was attentive and polite. they brought us chips and dips and drinks within 3 min of us getting there, and our meals were there within 15 min.
Very happy customer!
The food is so bad.....!! – Should have listened to the past reviews, but new to Downtown my family & I are open to trying before judging. ABSOLUTELY NO FLAVOR, our dishes lacked any kind of natural or fresh flavors. As one of the previous posts, the salsa was something out of a can and just blended in a blender. The rice well...oh gosh...I can't explain it ...gross! I am absolutely amazed that the owner or cooks of this great located and cute restaurant are not reading these reviews, and they must be afraid to taste their cuisine! Salt Lake City is booming and becoming a hot spot for amazing new restaurants and foods. We have been fortunate to live in several metropolitan cities and travel around the world. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Salt Lake City, but have yet found a really good Mexican restaurant. This place lacked flavors of onions, fresh cilantro, jalapenos, cumin, salt, pepper, garlic, lime all the wonderful flavors and spices intergrated into Tex-Mex, Southwest, or Authentic Mexican cuisine! Unfortunately, everything, and I mean everything tasted right out of the "Sysco" Truck cans. The chips with the salsa...cheap processed tortilla chips bought at Costco! Its too bad...such a cute restaurant. The One star ...for "Eh" is forced...because it was not even ..."Eh".
The BEST mexican – They are SO SO fast, great food, and not expensive. Love it!
Awful Mexican Food – I have lived in SLC for five years and finally went to Su Casa for lunch today. Started out being sat in cramped corner table. Salsa is like ketchup with NO spice at all. Chips are not fresh. I had the veggie burrito smothered. Enchilada sauce was bland with very little cheese. Inside burrito was mostly their awful rice. Rice seems to be pre-made or boxed Spanish rice from the store. My partner had the cheese quesadilla which was not bad, but how can you mess up a flour tortilla with melted cheese inside. Bottom line don't waste your time or money. Luckily we had a buy one get one free coupon that made us feel better about paying for the food.
not good – Have these people ever eaten Mexican food? My husband and I love mexican food, but this is so bland we did not like it. Don't waste your time...go to La Puente or the Red Iguana!
Worst mexican food in SLC – I have a hard time giving this restaurant even one star. Food was absolutely horrible. As another review said, salsa was watered down ketchup. We had the enchiladas and a burrito and neither had any flavor and the beans and rice that accompanied them seemed as if they had been sitting under heat lamps for days. The sour cream had gone bad and smelled of buttermilk as well.
The outside of the restaurant lends itself to making people believe it might be good. In truth, I would much rather go to any other taco stand in SLC.
The service was a joke as well. Bunch of young kids who didn't seem to care about customers. Don't go here unless you don't have taste buds or don't like your waiter or waitress to take care of you.
Su Casa doesn't know Mexican – This place is a hole in the wall location - it has no ambiance!
The chips and salsa leaves much to be desired - it was nothing more than watered down ketchup! They'd be better off opening a jar of PACE!
The salad was no better than what I would scrape up at home - has absolutely no character - nothing but lettuce and a dab of tomato.
A local person recommended the place as great for a burrito - her only true fact was the size of said burrito - another greasy item with no character.
The on site waitress stated that Utah has lots of Mexicans, but the people operating this Su Casa location evidently have never tried good Mexican food. Tell them to visit So. California, or Texas. Or advise the people of UTAH to wise up, and eat only American food!
Best cheap mexican, close to downtown – I love this restaurant. I have been here many many times and every time, the staff is friendly and quick, the food is hot, filling and tastes great and the restaurant is relaxing, wether you sit inside or out.
This is the only restaurant I have had enchiladas with cinnamon in the sauce- it's surprising but adds just the right taste.
I recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants good, cheap mexican for take out or sit down. And it's within 5 minutes of downtown.
Not So Great – My 2 friends and I recently went to Su Casa restaurant. The chips were good and salty and the salsa had an alright taste despite looking like ketchup. The cheesy chip appetizer tasted pretty good. But when the main course came I was sorely disappointed. None of it tasted good at all. I really didn't like that they put my hard shell taco on the hot plate resting against my hot and saucy enchilada. The chile verde had a fatty, funny taste and the mexican rice was gummy. The final straw for me was when I took my second bite of my beef taco and the meat was pink. None of us took any leftovers home. But I do have to add that my neighbors recommended the place and there were other diners there so apparently some people like it!
Su Casa no es mi casa. – This restaurant is pretty bad. The food is really greasy and bland. There is no good reason to go to here because there are several other cheap Mexican restaurants in Salt Lake that are a whole lot better, like Red Iguana. Their Horchata was good, but everything else was not worth the money. Save your money and eat elsewhere.
