Worst. Customer. Service. EVER! – Worst customer service ever!!!!! Terrible return policies!!!! The employees are the epitome of punkrock trendy and it shows in the way they treat the customers who give them business. I will NEVER do business with this company again which is sad because I love to support local shops.
I bought a used game and 2 BRAND NEW controllers on Christmas Eve as a gift. A few days passed and my husband decided he wanted to try to find some used gaming items on ksl instead. When I pulled out the receipt I noticed it said no refunds on returns- in store credit only. Obviously I was upset because nobody had mentioned this at the counter when I bought stuff for CHRISTMAS.
I called because I figured this policy made sense on used games, movies, music etc. but that an unopened brand new in package controller would be returnable. They told me that I could only get in store credit for the controllers and that they had their return policy posted in 20 different places and I should have seen it. Hello? If you've been in that store you know their walls are completely PLASTERED in posters and flyers and all kinds of crap. If it was so easy to see WHY DIDN'T I SEE A SINGLE ONE? I would NOT have bought the controllers there if I knew I couldn't return them. Their manager was rude and condescending about the whole situation and said that there was nothing they could (would) do about the situation because I should have seen the return policy on the wall.
After fuming about this for a few days my husband decided to just return them and get the in store credit and buy a few more games as they obviously weren't going to do anything else. When we went to the location in draper where we bought everything there was a sign on the door saying they had moved and their grand opening for the new location wasn't until february 1- two weeks away. Concerned that they would give us more hassle because of the length of time that had passed since christmas my husband called again to ask if we needed to drive to another location. They THEN told him it didn't matter at that point because their "return policy clearly states you have 3 days to return items for an in store credit" and that at this point our only option was to sell them back the $40 UNOPENED, UNUSED, BRAND NEW controllers for $8. Why would they not have mentioned THAT over the phone when we called about returning them in the first place? Obviously we hadn't seen the sign in their store and didn't know about that littel clause either! When my husband told the person over the phone that they had the worst customer service and return policies he'd ever seen, the guy on the phone angrily asked him who returns christmas gifts 3 weeks after christmas and said that it was unreasonable for us to expect to get our money back from ANY company at this point. Really? Because we had just returned a pair of shoes from sportsman's warehouse that day without any problems!
We paid $40 for the two controllers on christmas eve and now 3 weeks later with a receipt, unused, unopened, brand new items our only option is to sell the controllers back to graywhale for $8. Nice. I feel like they just stole our money. If your return policies differ that much from EVERY OTHER STORE out there, you should mention it your customers at check out ESPECIALLY around Christmas!

2 dvds 1 free Awesome!!! – like I said you buy 2 dvds and one is free ( on selected items)Customer service is great :)
my only problem with these guys... some of the dvds I buy skip and dont work properly, I asked if I could return them, they said yes if I had bought them just recently.. sooo... watch your dvds right after you buy them cause some of them are not that great. but what do you expect at prices like 4$ and 5$??
BEST place for music, movies, & games – I have lived in many states throughout the US and Graywhale is BY-FAR the best place to go for music, movies, & games, and if you have a 'killerwhale' membership card, it's even better. There have been very few times that I"ve gone into one of their locations and not been able to find what I was looking for. Their networking capabilities are also remarkable. If the location you're at doesn't have the selection you are looking for, they will call the other locations and if they have, they will hold it for you until you can pick it up. THIS IS ONE BUSINESS THAT I HOPE NEVER GOES AWAY, BUT ONLY GETS BIGGER. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK-GRAYWHALE CD, PLEASE.
The granddaddy of previously listened-to music. – The Scene
Even though it's a chain, Graywhale maintains an independent flavor with its substantial selection and courteous employees. It seems there's always one more employee on hand than is needed. That's a problem only when the small store is packed. Usually it's nice to have someone greet you--and you can't walk in here without that happening.
Though it carries new CDs, the used variety is its raison d'etre. Categories are numerous. There's also a limited selection of vinyl. New CDs are a little pricey, but that's not why you're here. Used CDs start as low as $3.99 and rarely exceed $8.99.
great hangout – I love the music selection they have here. They have lots of really good diverse used cd's and great customer service. The people that work there are all really friendly. The new store by the University is awesome.
Go Graywhale Go – This is the bomb diggity of all music stores. Its great because its a small business that is only in the valley but you can find any cd you are looking for. I havent had to wait yet and I listen to J pop
