Great deserts and cake squares! – I've never been disappointed with any of my custom orders or just dropping by for a spontaneous treat. Delicious treats and friendly service, one of my favorite gems in SLC. Make sure to buy a few bags of cake squares.
Worst customer service – We ordered a white macadamia cake with chocolate filling for my sons 5th birthday. We got chocolate cake with cherry filling. We had already cut into the cake, which is how we found out it was wrong, and began serving our guests.
My husband called the bakery and told them it was the wrong cake. He was asked to bring it back. He told the lady we had already started to serve the cake because there is no way to explain to a 5 year old that sure he can blow out the candles on his cake, but wait, you cant have any because we have to take it back to the bakery because they totally screwed up! She said that is fine, we will refund you the entire cost. You will have a gift certificate ready for you when you come in on Monday.
Well I went in today and was given a gift certificate for only HALF the cost. They proceeded to tell me because we did not bring back the cake they could only refund 50%!
Should I have had everyone spit out the cake so I could take it back? Should I have sent my 5 year old into a crying fit because I needed to take the cake away from him?
They messed up on one of the most important days in which a cake is needed and they have the balls to tell me they won’t refund it? I’m sorry but that is NOT okay. They decorated the wrong cake. They gave us a substandard cake. The flavor was nothing like what we ordered and should have gotten. If I wanted chocolate with cherry filling I would have ordered it. Instead I was stuck serving guests something I did not promise them. We had been raving about this White Macadamia cake for weeks prior to the party. Everyone was looking forward to tasting it.
I WILL NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM AGAIN!!!!!!
By the way, anyone want to buy a gift certificate from me?
Excellent Customer Service and Cake!! – Granite Bakery was the only bakery in SLC that would take my special order for a Chocolate Rum cake with raspberry filling and marzipan shell. I called more than 6 other bakeries and either they didn't call back or said they couldn't do it. Not Granite! They not only said they could do it, they offered to have it ready by 7am the next day, less than 24 hours after I placed the order!!! The cake has been receiving rave reviews all day and is the talk of the office. It also was the perfect treat for our boss who turned 71 years old today. This birthday cake made his day!!! Thanks Granite!! I will certainly share my story with others, you really came through.
Worst cake decorating in town. – Cheap on amout of icing used, poor decorating ideas! Won't shop there again! Costco, Sam's and Albertson's do a better job for a better price.
Great Customer Service and Delicious Cakes – I used Granite Bakery for my wedding cake. I bought a three tiered cake with buttercream frosting. My guests ate the whole thing except the top, (the whole tradition thing). I have been to a lot of weddings and seen a lot of wasted cake but that was not the case with me. Everyone loved it. They delivered the cake and everything. It was great. I had a wonderful experience and couldn't find a better price for what I wanted. I would highly recommend this baker for wedding cakes.
Delivery is not free – It says here that delivery is free but, it is not. It is still a great price starting at $30.00 for delivery. They come at the time they say they will with great people delivering and selling their cakes. Friendly and great customer serivce
Famous for its fresh-baked bread and custom wedding cakes, this bakery is a bride's best friend. – The Scene
Granite Bakery expanded in 2003 to include a full-service bridal shop, complete with flowers, photographers, linens and catering. But the familiar smell of fresh-baked bread still lures customers throughout the year. Granite offers a wide assortment of bread including banana, date nut, sourdough, cinnamon and pumpernickel. Wedding-cake styles range from elaborate and formal to simple and elegant. The butter-cream frosting is delicately sweet, not overpowering, so cakes taste as delicious as they look.
Russ Oliver--owner/baker at Granite since 1984--has compiled examples of his work in a book to help wedding couples choose a style. Customers are encouraged to bring their own ideas and the bakery is willing to copy styles found in magazines. Sample tastings are available. If you prefer fresh flowers on your cake, the in-house florist can assist.
