Really enjoyed the food. Second visit was as good as the first. Love the beans and the fresh salad, taco, relleno, burrito very good.
Classic love for this place! – Cancun is awesome! Chicken Chimi is to die for. I love the staff, they take such good care of you. Nice, thick warm chips and plenty of cheese!!! My girlfriends and I will go and sit in the corner booth for hours laughing and enjoying ourselves. They treat you like family, and a family that loves you!
My Favorite Restaurant!! – This is the most delicious Mexican food, possibly ever! I absolutely love it! I have gone to this restaurant since I was a kid and it has always been my favorite. The chips and salsa are complimentary and so delicious!! The employees are always friendly and the cooks prepare the food very quickly! I have never had a bad experience here, ever.
Great food, and fun – A few nights back we went to have dinner not knowing that they but a bar with tvs. . Are kids went with us and or server was great. The kids had a great time... while we got to watch the jazz play had nice hot food fast. Had there chile verde burritos amazing! Well be back to watch more games and the chile verde. .
Great food in a relaxed atmosphere – I have eaten at Cancun Cafe a few times in the past several months and the food is always delicious! The shrimp fajitas, the fish tacos, the cheese enchiladas - awesome! I enjoyed it so much I had them cater an event for 50 people and it was wonderful.
Terrible Experience! – I will never go back to this restaurant! It's sad because this used to be one of my favorites & is right around the corner from my house, but the last two times my husband & I have been there have been catastrophies. The first bad experience was with a server adding a 20% tip to our credit card bill AFTER we left a cash tip on the table. Luckily, our bank reversed the charges. This past Friday night, the service was so horrible, we ended up walking out. It took forever to get the food, & then my husband's entree came out, but mine never did. No one came to check on us even though we kept trying to get the server's attention. When my husband complained to the manager, he blamed it on a server calling in sick & that our server was actually a cook that came out from the back to help out. No excuses. Plus, the food had seemed to decline over the past several months. Stay away!
They have gone downhill! – Although we recommended Cancun to many friends and acquaintances over the years, we've noticed a trend toward lower quality food. Last night I paid $15 for three cheese enchiladas and one chicken enchilada. They were small and flat! Hardly any cheese or chicken. It was a take-out order, so our refried beans were in very small cups...and very runny. It was like bean baby food.
I decided while waiting for my order to add chips and salsa. Even though they're complimentary for dine-in customers, they are extra for take-out customers; why is this? Styrofoam containers are dirt cheap. I paid an extra $2.15 for a good amount of chips, but only one small cup of salsa which was about enough for a handful of chips.
All in all, last night's dinner pushed Cancun Cafe to the bottom of our Mexican food list...even Taco Bell is better.
Great Place! – My wife and I have been coming here regularly for several years. The food is very good and a great value. The restaurant is accessible, clean, and we never have to wait for a table (despite the place doing good business). The service is outstanding. I agree with a previous review that Pedro has got to be one of the best servers I?ve ever experienced (anywhere in the world, never mind SLC)?always extremely attentive, fun, and polite, but never intrusive. The other servers have all been extremely good as well, we just haven?t had them as our server as often.
Good Chile Rellenos – Good chips and salsa. I like their chile relleno; they us anaheims so they have a touch more heat than most poblano based rellenos. They do a good job with the sauces. The chicken filling of their enchilada was bland. Good rice and beans. Convenient locations and reliable quality.
Parking can be tough at this location. Parking is better at their other location.
Pedro the best waiter in the business – Cancun Cafe has the best mexican food in Utah it also has the best waiter in Utah.
