Great Player Friendly Course – I've golfed both Mtn Dell courses (Lake and Mtn) and love them both, although the lake is more creative.

You're not going to get pyramid unmarked balls on the range here, but for a public course, you won't find many better---especially at their prices

great views-poor course – No control of pace of play. No attire standards. No response from shop.

Thirty-six up and down holes divided between two layouts. If you're lucky, you'll see a moose. – The Course
Mountain Dell always seems to be full April to October, its popularity understandable: two challenging layouts (Lake and Canyon), an excellent clubhouse, canyon temperatures when the city is broiling and a great view.

The Experience
The Lake course descends from the clubhouse to Mountain Dell Reservoir. Nos. 1 and 2, narrow and downhill, demand your attention immediately. From the blues, No. 4 is an engaging 371-yard par 4 that crosses an arm of the reservoir, presenting a precarious tee shot. Seven through 9 climb back up the hill. Up and down is the name of the game on Canyon, too, which starts out relatively flat, reaches a summit some 1,300 feet above the clubhouse, then plummets. Both layouts present tight, tough holes (good luck finding your ball in the scrub oak)and are walkable if you're energetic.

Vital Stats
Number of holes: 36 (two 18-hole courses)

Fun in the Canyon – Truthfully, I liked it better when it was 18 holes. Now, with two courses, everything seems rather cramped. But still this is a beautiful course and offers a convenient excuse to roll up the canyon and get out of the smog for an afternoon. Weekend tee-times are tough to get, so head in early on a weekday and you're all set.
