Reviews for Gallenson's Gun Shop

I live near Logan, UT and visit Gallenson's every chance I get - been going in for 5 years. Their prices seem to reflect the recent panic on reloading components, but they often have what you need. As to the sales personnel, they are fine. If you need help, all you do is ask for help and they are right there and knowledgeable. I consider Gallenson's the best gun store in Utah and one of the best in the nation.

I have visited this store a grand total of three times--- I live 200 miles away. Each time I deal with super knowledgable staff and never regret the trip here. These people are professional and in the business of selling firearms. This would be a great store to stay away from, if you are not totally stable, as they do have other business to attend to, other than a select few. Prices are very good, condition of items in inventory are excellent. Reminds me of the sporting goods stores of the 60's. I'm very impressed.

Do Not Recommend.

Worse customer service on the planet! I could be ON FIRE and they wouldn't ask if I need help.

I have been the only customer in the store, standing right in front of 2 employees at the counter who are having a personal conversation and neither stops to ask if I need help or even acknowledges I'm there. They actually seemed to avoid eye contact with me while they chatted.

One has to ask if the owner/manager has a clue what the customer experience is like at his store. Does he read these reviews or watch how his employees interact with customers? Does he care? Or worse yet, does he know that his employees blow-off customers and are arrogant and condescending toward them...and condones it?

Needless to say, I have bought my last gun at Gallenson's.

good gun shop

at least one or two of the guys are a little cocky

but they know their stuff

I've bought three guns there in the last couple of months

prices of their consignment and used/re-sale are better than what you can get from private-parties on ksl, usually and the quality is better, usually with the original box, etc.

I also like to take my old guns in their to see what they might be worth

be careful selling to them, just like a car dealer, you won't get top dollar, they are a dealer after all, and have to make a mark-up to pay the lease

remember, they used to be a "pawn shop" back in the day, my dad used to work for them, and I remember hanging out there when I was a wee little kid (over on state st.)

when buying, I like Tim or Wayne, but most of them are real helpful, and will answer most of your questions

I have purchased all of my guns and ammo from these guys. The staff is very knowledgable and you can't beat their prices. Best shop in town.

I bought my very first handgun from Gallenson's as soon as I was old enough. It a reasonably inexpensive ruger p91dc. It was barely more than test fired. It was awesome and hit whatever you looked at. I made the mistake of selling it to my nephew, who left it in his truck with the engine running and the windows down. The fact that they left the truck and took the gun tells you what kind of piece his truck was.

I do have only one tip. Only one or two employees do this, but I ask them about a reloading part, often Lee Precision, and without fail they tell me "NAH, YOU WANT THE (INSERT THE MOST EXPENSIVE ALTERNATIVE RIGHT HERE) Luckily, most of them are completely knowledgeable in their section and usually half of the rest of the store. With the exception with those couple of reloading "GURUS" Who very often tell me I can't do something or "it won't work, etc, and then I try it anyway and it works like a charm. Except for them, I have never felt pressured or rushed, even when they're closing soon

MOST IMPORTANT TIP: EXTEND YOUR HOURS. PREFERABLY TO 9PM. I KNOW YOU CAN'T SELL GUNS AFTER BCI CLOSES, BUT EVEN IF YOU JUST EXTENDED THEM TO 7PM, YOU'LL STILL BE ABLE TO SELL GUN ACCESSORIES,AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, YOU'LL BE ABLE TO SELL MORE RELOADING EQUIPMENT TO ME. HELL, EVERY TIME I GO IN THERE I SPEND TOO MUCH ON RELOADING. JUST THINK IF YOU COULD GET THE CROWD WHO HAS TO WORK UNTIL SIX, THERE'S A WHOLE ENTIRE DIFFERENT DEMOGRAPHIC. EITHER WAY, I DON'T THINK I'LL STOP BUYING THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS IN GUNS AND RELOADING STUFF.

THANKS FOR BEING AS AWESOME AS YOU RE

The SLC USMC Marine Corps Birthday Committee all agree that Gallenson’s is a great place to get your weapons and accessories! I thought their prices were very competitive. They are very knowledgeable about the items they supply. They support their community and are very supportive of our military. Semper Fi!

Over the years I have bought several guns from them. I've ALWAYS been treated well and the prices are far better than anywhere else in SLC.

Other gun stores in town should follow their example (especially Doug's).

I have been doing business with these people for a couple of years now and have spent quite a bit of money, but I have seen customer service going down hill. I went in with cash in pocket to buy a gun. The sales people completely ignored me when I tried to ask some questions. When I finally got someone's attention, I was pretty much dismissed as I was told they didn't have the gun and didn't know when or if they would get it. I wanted to look at another gun, but nobody paid attention. Will be spending my money elsewhere.

Gallenson's always a great place to stop & visit – I've been shopping at Gallenson's since my Wildlife Conservation Officer days, (game warden) in Roosevelt back in the early 70's. It was our first place to stop whenever we came to the SLC office. I don't get into Salt Lake City as often as I used to but some things don't change, I still come in to shop, browse or converse with the guys behind the counter. It has always been my experience they would go the extra mile to accommodate any and all of their customers. Keep up the great work!
