Short door guy, Darken, Draken, whatever is NOT A GOOD DOOR GUY! First off, he has an attitude as it's common for him to treat you like crap just for entering the bar. Not a good first impression. Second, they continually OVERSERVE people so they can take advantage of their wallets when they leave knowing they have had way too much to drink. And LAST BUT NOT LEAST, I was literally attacked when leaving the Leprechan Inn the last time I went there. I walked out of the bar to leave and was was followed by a girl who had been sitting at the bar....she ran at me, attacked me and tackled me to the ground. She barely looked old enough to drink. The door guy did nothing to help me and didn't call the cops when I requested him to call the cops after getting the obnoxiously wasted girl off me. I left with a hole in my pants from being tackled in the parking lot upon leaving, and a red, swollen eye, which soon turned to a black eye. Amazing that the door guy stood there the entire time and didn't do a thing! NEVER WILL RETURN!
Do you go to a bar to have fun? – Are you new in town or new to Murray?
Are you looking for a change from the night club scene and would once in a while like casual place to call home?
Are you tired of waiting for that guy to gain sentience and realize that there are other people around who might like to get a drink from the bar?
Are you getting irritated with those people who treat the employees as servants?
Are you looking for a place where, after a hard days work, you can relax, have some good food and a cold beer or cocktail?
Well, try out the Leprechaun Inn. It's one of the few places in Salt Lake City that caters and welcomes people like you. The Leprechaun will take all comers and serve them food and drinks with a genuine smile and the respect they deserve. You'll quickly learn that nearly every time you visit, you are sure to find some good people who enjoy an intelligent conversation or a challenging game of pool or a spirited round of Golden T. If you've found it difficult to find a place that isn't dominated by one particular team, the Leprechaun has many flat screen HDTVs any of which can be tuned in to your game.
I've read through the poor grammar, spelling and attitudes of other reviewers experiences. One thing to consider is that the Leprechaun has had it's doors open to everyone since 1980 so they must be doing something right. To those who were disappointed I would like to quote Bill Cosby, "I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody." It has been my experience that the staff will do their best to make you feel at home and if the bar is not quite what you are looking for, they'll even suggest places which might better suit you.
So if you are curious, give the Leprechaun Inn a shot and decide for yourself.
Rude Rude Rude Rude – First of all they over serve their patrons so everyone that hangs out there is sloppy drunk and annoying. The wait staff is cliquey and treats anyone who is not a regular like S**t! Along with that, it is obvious that underage friends of the staff are being allowed to drink. Can't wait for them to lose their license.
After two visits, I decided to give this place the benefit of the doubt because I live within walking distance. All three times I visited I was charged for extra drinks! Who do they think I am, one of the idiot drunks they ply with so much alcohol that they are oblivious to the shady practice of overcharging.
Half way through my meal, the cook decided to come out of the kitchen to have a smoke. When I saw him, I about gagged up my food right there. He was smelly and sweaty. I left the remainder, paid my tab.. sans a tip and got out. I will never return!
Exceptional Work Staff – Just discovered this fine eating establishment. The manager, Tracey, meets and greets almost each customer by name. You can tell that they feel truly welcomed.
My group ordered different lunch platters, all were prepared with great care and was delicious!
Will definitely return on a regular basis.
Terrible Work Staff – Here's a hint: If your wait staff thinks that it's okay to shove a customer who is standing at the bar, then proceed to tell them to "Get the f--k out of the way!", you have problems.
Here's another hint: If it happens more than once, you have two choices: 1. Fire the jerks, or 2. Lose business.
I went to the Leprechaun at the suggestion of a friend, and though the food and drink was good the staff was terrible. The door guy was cool, but everyone else acted like jerks the entire time. The above example actually happened when a bar-back or bartender decided that me standing in one location was a terrible sin that could only be fixed by shoving me.
You stay classy, Leprechaun Inn!
Has it's days – I have visited this bar a few times. There were days I enjoyed myself, good beer, good people good company. There were other days when the guy at the door was extremely rude, cocky and made you feel like you had to do massive but kissing to get in. Either way, it is a place of business and service and just because it is a bar no doorman should ever disrespect and act greater than his customers without having knowing that individual.
Not to mention, the few times I have went there was an attention go getting man I believe his name is Chris Mason from what he told me. He thought he owned the place. He is a large man with dirty blonde hair and about 6 ft tall. He was obnixious, drunk and causing some problems with people I was with. He probally did not notice because he was to drunk. Being he was an extremely oversized man how could we have not noticed him.I went there a few weeks ago and sure enough. There was obnixious oversized Chris trying to get attention from women who did not want to give his disgusting self the time of day. Annoying but somewhat entertaining. Get a clue dude... you are an annoying man and getting drunk and trying to get drunk women in a bar isn't always the best approach. He was hanging out with an annoying girl a few times she said her name is Brittany. She thought she was cuter than she appeared to be and she had no problem telling me and my boys explicit details of her love life, yolk. So Chris and Britany, go home together, don't make any puppies and leave the other people alone.
I would just like it if the guy at the door would take a happy pill and if this man Chris Mayson and Brittany would take a go away pill.
Service from waitress was wonderful everytime. She always checked on me and gave good food suggestions.
Leprechaun Inn #ucks! – I went to the Leprechaun Inn last year. I was turned off because they wanted all info off of my drivers license. (private club) .
I went back a year later (Jun 09) because I thought they wouldn't be a private club anymore. Plus I was hoping the loud mouth/cliquey Tracie wouldn't be there anymore. All she does is talk to her friends.
Sure enough, Tracie is still there, and it's still is a private club (she copied my drivers license info again) and when I was there on the 24th, she spent all of her time talking to her friends.
I went back today, June 29th. Thought maybe she wouldn't be working. I walk in, stand around for about 2 minutes waiting for a bartender to come out. Finally Tracie (#itch) walks out. The first thing she does is look at me and say "you're going to have to wait....." Then she proceeds to look at other people who have been at the bar for a while, already had some drinks, and proceeds to ask them what they want to drink again. I was amazingly patient and held my tongue. I read the USA today in front of me. When i finally got a drink, I downed that. When I was finally asked if I wanted another drink, I only got one because I was pis#ed. By the time I finished half of my drink, Tracie was at the right end of the bar (by the kitchen) talking to her friends while eating Trout. Next thing I know, she walks up in front of me, grabs the sport section of my newspaper, and walks back to her corner and gives it to one of her friends.
If I was still in the Marines I would've gone to that corner, grabbed the newspaper and chewed her up one side and down the other in front of everybody.
But making sure people don't go back and don't tip her is the best approach.Hit the closed (she can live off horse feed with her horses for all I care!) #$uck off Tracie! your friends don't pay your bills!!
Good Bar with good food – Place is great for watching sports. They put in about 15 new flat panel TV?s with HD. Also the food is great especially the wings!
A good neighborhood bar. – The Scene
The lucky Lep has been a long-time favorite hangout of people who live in the areait's hard to figure out why, although the place was pleasant enough in a downscale kind of way. The most remarkable features of the Leprechaun Inn are its name and a stained-glass window, which both seem totally out of place in the joint. The ambience, down to the booths and tables, is completely ordinary. However, the bartender or server will happily bring you a nice cold Budweiser or Coors, and, after all, what else do you really want from a bar? It might not be the trendiest club downtown, but it is a perfectly good neighborhood bar to sit down and have a beer.
best bar in Utah – Lots of parking, some of the best bar food around. Fun place to go after work and get a drink. or to take a date.
