I have to agree, after years of eating here I was appalled at how I was treated Friday night. I had ordered my favorite egg foo yung to be delivered. It only takes 6 minutes to get to my place. I have always been afforded the courtesy of special requests and when I asked for them not a word was said that they would not honor them. I gave the girl explicite driving directions. The driver got to my place one hour and 15 minutes later. When he called and said he was lost I repeated the directions (he was on the opposite side of the building) I told him to walk aroud to my side. When he got to the door he admitted he never looked for the directions. I paid and had anticipated a good meal. It was cold, the requests not honored and the egg foo yung tasted nasty. I called and they said that is the way it is made. I asked for at least a 50% refund since it was not edible. She was rude and said they never refund. I got in my car and took the food back - they can not tell the bank that I got product when I file a complaint and ask for help with a refund. Never again will I darken their door.
DANGER - Food Poisioning -NO REFUNDS - DONT EAT HERE!!!! – I have been eating at this restaurant on and off for like 13 years. Last night I ordered Tiny Spicy Chicken and Sweet and Sour Chicken. i picked up my order brought it home and it looked a little poor quality. I know the food there has declined over the years, but I figured I knew the place so my son and I began to eat. BAD MOVE!!! We only consumed 1/2 of one of the boxes of food, it tasted bad. But I thought everyone has an off night. at 1am I sat up in bed, ran to the bathroom and continued to VOMIT AND DRY HEAVE for the next FIVE HOURS. It was the worst thing I have ever gone thru. My son woke up with diareah and could not go to school today. When I dragged myself out of bed at 4pm the following day, I called them and told them, and the lady on the phone just kept asking my address and if I want "take out order". Increasingly frustrated. I took the food out the fridge DROVE IT TO THE restaurant...to explain. They again, could not communicate in english and asked me to wait for manager. Who ALSO could not communicate in english. after waiting for a translator, they ARGUED WITH ME, asked why i didnt call when I was sick (1am, they are closed). Then they had the nerve to refuse to give me a 20.29 refund! I am so sick and angry!!! PLEASE DONT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY. I ended up being there trying to get them to understand me for almost 30 minutes until I gave up and left....
VERY POOR DELIVERY DRIVERS! – First time ordering from this place and when the driver showed up, he tried to force his way into my door. I was prepared to give a tip and decided that when he went to force his way into our door that I was NOT going to tip him. He then tried to tell me that the tip was not good enough for driving out here to our apartment.
I'm sorry bot if you try to force your way into my home, I am NOT going to pay you.
Great Food and service – Last night was my 4'th time eating food in house or to go. Always fresh, hot, great food. The staff is very cordial and friendly. The food was better than PF Changs, lower priced, and plenty to bring home.
Nice quiet atmosphere. My favorite Chinese place of all time!!
Never Let Me Down! – I have only been to this place a few times but i have never been disappointed. We always order from them for family parties and the food is always delicious. The staff are a group of wonderful people and i would definitely recommend this place to anyone! Let's keep this place in business!
Good Food But.... – The food is really good, but the staff is ridiculous. I had to call in my order about 3 times and never got it. (After 2 hours of waiting we gave up.)
I over looked that and tried again. I got my order this time, but it was ice cold. Then the delivery man told me that my tip wasn't good enough, and that if I wanted then to deliver then I would have to give out a better tip.
I over looked that, too and ordered again. The woman who answered took my order and then charged me 3 times!
The food is really good, but everything else was no good.
Absolute worst Chinese food I've ever tasted. – First of all I would like to say, I am Chinese.
I know how Chinese food should taste like.
I've worked at many Chinese restaurant in the past.
So please take my advice, Golden Isle is a disgrace of Chinese people.
How dare you serve food this bad to anyone?
The dishes we've ordered had NO taste at all.
The soup was just horrible, my wife described it as chunky-swamp-water.
Our order took an hour and thirty minutes to get here.
The food was cold, I assumed that it was the drivers fault.
We warm up the food, and forced ourself to eat a few bites.
It was unacceptable.
I wanted to take the food back, and collect a refund.
But you know what? It was only $25. They need it more than us.
I am absolute furious, that is what drove me to write this review.
Please safe yourself time, money, and the terrible experience of putting this nasty food in your mouth.
I would like to apologize for all Chinese people,
Golden Isle does not represent Chinese food well at all.
I really feel bad for y'all.
Good lunch prices – The lunch specials are the best part about this resturant. They deliver also, which is great on days where leaving the office can't happen. The food is variable some days it's amazing others it's so-so.
More like the Rusty Isle--Worst Chinese Food I've Had – My wife and I love chinese food. We ate at the Mandarin on our first date and again on the night I proposed to her. We love P.F. Changs as well. But at the same time, we can appreciate the draw of a good chinese buffet--sometimes quantity is just more important than quality. :-) So we are always eager to find great new places for chinese, and Golden Isle has the bonus of being a stone's throw from our house. Please, please avoid the mistake of trying this place out. It is not one of those nice family-run dives that sacrifices cleanliness and service in favor of great food at low prices. A family-run dive it is, and a lack of cleanliness it has, but good food and low prices it most certainly does NOT have. The food is bad enough that I would hesitate to pay more than $2.00 for a plate of it, let alone the $8 they actually charge. My wife, who loves EVERYTHING having to do with chinese cuisine, involuntarily spat out her first bite of it. Perhaps the biggest testament to the poor quality of the food is the fact that despite our extreme love of chinese food, we have vowed never to eat at the Golden Isle again, even though we pass it daily on our way home from work. The chicken was the toughest I have ever had (worse than food court chinese) and was literally more gristle than meat. My wife's dish was so loaded with garlic she couldnt keep it in her mouth, and she normally enjoys garlic dishes. Bad flavors, bad textures, and luke warm when they brought it to us, despite the fact that we were one of only two occupied tables at the time. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere if you are wanting chinese--even Panda Express is superior to the Golden Isle.
JUST OK – Went there because it is close to the house. Food was just ok. I expected more considering what we paid. did leave me feeling like i should have driven the extra mile and spent it on better food.
