Pastas are good Bread is better – I have eaten her many times and love the food...It is fair priced and I always ahve enough to take back to the apartment and share with my cats. I wish they would name a dish after me because I order it all the time...the Lolan Carter dish....

We will not be going back – I have no interest in going to this restaurant again.

First off our bread was flavorless and completely saturated with butter. Our entrees lacked any seasoning and the Calzone was soggy from some tomato soup like sauce it was floating in.

On the positive our waiter was attentive and the Cannoli was very good.

It's possible this was just a bad night, however I expect much better for $15-$20 a plate.

Great little Italian joint – It's a smaller family-owned restaurant. The first time I went was on a date in college and I've gone back at least a few times a year ever since. The food and service are great, especially since the owner, kitchen staff, and even a few of the waiters are actually part of the original family. Sometimes I have seen them a bit shorthanded, especially on weekends, and you may have to wait five minutes to get a refill or a spoon for your spaghetti as the waiter makes his rounds through seven other tables. Lunch usually costs me $7-9. The ragu sauce is terrific and comes on most of the menu items. Most of the desserts are not homemade, to my disappointment, but I usually don't even have space in my stomach since everything comes with complementary salad and bread. La Dolce Vita is a great choice for an excellent lunch.

Always a great experience – La Dolce Vita lives in the shadow of the large and better known Italian restaurant, Ottavio's. La Dolce Vita is a relatively small place. They usually just use one or two rooms of tables, and the waiter might also be doing some work in the kitchen. But that's the charm of this restaurant. There's hardly ever a wait, and with few exceptions, the food is every bit as good as the offering next door. The cozy atmosphere connects me so much with the place, that the food maybe tastes even a little bit better, just because I want it to! If you go to Ottavio's and the wait time is 2 hours to get in, duck around the corner and see if La Dolce Vita can get you seated quicker. If you do, they just might be your first choice next time around.

The notable exception to this would be in their soups. Ottavio's is famous for their rich tomato basil soup, and if that's what you're craving, just sit tight a wait for Ottavio's. La Dolce Vita is probably serving Minestrone -- a fine soup, but it doesn't really compare.

But on the whole, La Dolce Vita is a real David and Goliath story. Their small and simple restaurant wins out over their next door giant on many of the things that matter most in a restaurant.

Always Perfect – I'm not sure what this earlier review was talking about. I am a repeat customer to La Dolce Vita and have always been impressed by the excellent service and amazing food. I've also had Chet as my server quite a few times and have never been disappointed. Perhaps the food was too authentic and the atmosphere not snobby enough for some people, but for me it was and always is a perfect little piece of Italy. These are real Italian people making real Italian food the real Italian way. I would most definitely recommend La Dolce VIta as the best Italian restaurant in the Utah Valley.

meh – I would have expected better food and service after walking through the front door as it does look quite nice. We were dinner for two at 7:30 ish. To drink I had a peach italian soda, which was flavoured carbonated water topped with whipped cream from a can. The menu was easy to understand and dishes were eight to ten dollars. Our server Chet failed to bring us complementary bread like he said he would. Our pizza came, which was cheese and tomato something, and was hot and delicious. We mentioned the bread after we received the pizza (he didn't visit our table too often) and finally brang buttered toast. It was plain and unimpressive. The vinegar dip wasn't very good either. He offered dessert on a tray, we said "no thanks" and he said "verry good choice" like he was a robot or an actor running on a pre-written script. I think he was just an idiot in my honest opinion. I checked out the men's restroom before we left, it wasn't terrible but could be cleaner. They had paper towels via dispenser and liquid soap. The door pulled open with handle on the inside so I used my wet paper towel to open. While standing at the cash register waiting for someone to take our bill a girl walked up and said "you guys about ready?" Yes, we are standing here at the cash register, just about ready. Wait, ok now we are ready. ???

Overall LA Dolce Vita has potential but still isn't perfect.

Just another Italian place – The atmosphere at La Dolce Vita was authentic, but perhaps a little to open; not appropriate for sharing an intimate conversation with ones wife. The service was prompt and polite: the food, however; was lacking. I ordered the "meat" calzone, and my wife had ravioli. The calzone was chewy and bland, the meat in my "meat" calzone was sparse, and the crust was burnt on the bottom. The ricotta in both the calzone and the ravioli, however; was great. We had hot chocolate as well, and it was HOT! My burnt calzone definitely did not taste any better with a burnt tongue. The bread, though basic, was amazing.

A taste of Italy – This place serves wonderful, comfort food style, Italian food. Nothing pretentious, just excellent home cooking, flavorful sauces, delicious Minestone, great pizza. The servers are very friendly, it is like dining in your Italian Grandma's kitchen. Try the pasta pizza combo. Baked rigatoni with meat sauce, mild and delicious, penne pasta with gratte sauce that will have you wanting to lick the plate clean, and a slice of very good pizza. I have yet to try their desserts as the meal always leaves me completely satisfied. Buon Appetit!

Authentic Italian – La Dolce Vita is by far the best restaurant in the Salt Lake/Provo area if you want authentic Napolitano Italian food. They offer a great variety of fine dishes and we never go away hungry. The food and the atmosphere remind me of when I lived in Naples -- the Pizza Margarita is my personal favorite.
