A Gold Rush winner's idyllic spot displays its diverse ecosystems for nature lovers. – In Short
Samuel P. Taylor spread some of the gold dust he found in California's Gold Rush through this diverse habitat in Marin County. The park's namesake took his winnings and built a paper-mill along the creek; later he built a camping-style resort there, one of the first of its kind. Trails showcase redwoods, grasslands and streamside habitat. Available facilities include a visitor's center, restrooms, campgrounds, picnic tables and a convenience store open during in season.
