The Scene
Tucked into a nondescript shopping center on Hugenot Road, Bottega's exterior doesn't cry "upscale eatery." Instead, it's the unique Italian food with a Mediterranean twist that keeps diners coming back. The casual dining area doesn't intimidate--and if you can score a table on the outdoor patio, you're in for a great dining experience.
What to Order
Yes, it's Italian, but you're missing out if you stick with plain pasta. Instead, opt for something like the chicken saltimbocca ($14.95) or the Caribbean spiced tuna ($17.95). The wood-fired pizzas are also excellent here.
Wine List
Bottega offers a full single-priced wine list; order by the glass or by the bottle. Champagne and dessert wines are also available.
Romance Factor
Excellent Italian food, wine, patio dining: It all makes for the perfect date destination. This won't be a cheap date, mind you, but the meal is worth it.
Very Looooong Lunch !!!. Two of us took 2 clients to this establishment for a business lunch. We arrived around 1pm, were seated promptly and it was downhill from there. The appitizers were ok, the lunches were less than expected in presentation as well as taste and the waiter, though nice enough, was very poor on service, follow up or timing of the food delivery. This lunch was only meant to be 1 hr. but, due to failures in their internal processes, we were there over 2 hrs. While waiting for the check, we listened to the waite staff complain about other staff and management. I will not recommend this as a place to meet again.
READ MY BOTTEGA REVIEW LAST!!. My wife and I cruised by Bottega last night. Beautiful restaurant (especially the porch). Very romantic. We were seated and waited on very attentively. The bread/parmesean/oil starter was very tastey, and unlike other reviewers, I found the bread to be fresh, and the oil quite managable. The only glich was when the kitchen server brought out the wrong entree. Other than that, our meals were very tastey and satisfying. Contrary to other reviewers, I found our portions to be more than adequate. Just because they don't pack you full of food and give you a toothpick, like the Golden Corral, doesn't mean their portions are too small!!
