There is a reason camera stores like this don't exist anymore.
I'm all for supporting 'mom and pop' shops, local businesses, guys who have 'been in the biz for decades', but THERE IS A LINE. I am writing this review on behalf of myself and several fellow classmates. Warning: If you are a student or of ripe young age, be ready to be disrespected and treated like a child here.
Upon entering the store, the clerk is helping an elderly couple buy an overpriced camera, and he stops mid sentence to abruptly ask me "Uh can I help you?" I told him I needed a very specific item for a very specific purpose. When the couple left, he attempted to lecture me on why I was wrong in my research and how I was outdated. I assured him I knew what I wanted, and he rudely remarked about how he's been in the business for 30 years and surely knows more than me. Sarcastic comment after sarcastic comment after sarcastic comment, I made a purchase.
I like to leave transactions and relationships on a good note, so I thanked him sincerely for helping "educate me" (whilst holding my tongue), and in return he makes a rude comment and makes me wish I could have returned it right then and there.
The people working here have a snide and higher-than-thou attitude and complain about their lack of success in recent years.
Attempted to bring back a new camera the next day, they would not take it back, after changing my mind. Do not buy here. Extremely overpriced!!!
Never said you could not return it when it was purchased.
great advice and products – These professional photographers and suppliers are always a great source of advice, and still resource older fil-based products, as well as the digital.
Very nice, great service – On my honeymoon my digital camera battery died. and I had forgotten my charger. The helpful people at Massey's didn't have the brand I needed but took a look at the battery and realized it was identical to a brand they did have. When they found they didn't have the charger in stock, they offered to charge it for me. I purchased a disposable camera to use for the day and picked up my recharged digital battery 2 hours later at no charge (a nice courtesy since I had purchased the disposable there). They were very friendly and knowlegable!
Terrible buisness practices, extremley overpriced and outdated technology – I just returned from this store after purchasing two passport-type photos for a job application in Europe. From my experience, it's common practice in the 21st century to use a digital camera so that the customer can be satisfied before printing the final photos. This store uses a Polaroid, so when the first set went bad, I had to buy another two. 4 photos were 16 dollars, and 2 of them were totally unusable. Furthemore, the photos were taken in a storage room with no stool and no lighting. He then placed the photos into a paper holder which severly smugged the bottom half of the photos. We came back and attempted to return the photos, but the manager said "I'm not in the business to give refunds". This sort of customer service is awful and should not be supported. Please don't shop here.
