This could be a great place. This could be a great place but the smoke was way too thick, and makes for a terrible experience. Otherwise, if the owner would prohibit smoking, it would be a Wonderful place.

Dance with your darling at this dimly lit blues bistro.. The Scene
Definitely a "downtown crowd" who prefers a touch of elegance at an eatery. A pastoral-painted wall mural, Tiffany-inspired lamps at each booth, ceiling fans and starched tablecloths combine with the nightly live jazz and blues music to pamper picky professionals. Too bad the lights are so dim that you can't always appreciate these details.



The Food
Seasonal foods combined with sophisticated sides and sauces set the tone for a specific palate. The pumpkin wontons come with five spice apples and brown butter sauce; the Blue Point Oysters are crowded with shiitakes and fois gras butter. Red meat reigns (grilled rib eye, charred sirloin and prime rib) but don't discount the lobster crab cakes and New Zealand rack of lamb. Wasabi mashed potatoes and the chipotle-chevre cheese-potato cake sides are perfect partners, but the asparagus side seemed skimpy. Skip the doughy house-made pizza.

Great, but.... Cabos is one of my favorite restaurants in all of Richmond...however, it is going downhill. Not that the food is getting bad, it is just that the portions seem to be getting smaller and smaller. Also, their salad/appetizer selection is a little thin. The Dessert (especially the Creme Brulee) is out of this world. The one drawback to the wonderful Jazz is the ear splitting vocals (someone tell them to turn down the speakers a few notches).
