a totally great place.
Sweet potato fries do i need to say more. I love this bar, its a staple to my going out night life. It's like cheer's everybody knows your name. I love the atmosphere the service is prompt. You can always carry on a conversation it's never to loud, and they pull out the big TV for football.
With this bar you can't go wrong. The night bartenders are totally hot, for such a small quaint bar. I guess everyone loves this place, the employees and the patrons
Good food at good price. This Fan restaurant is a good value. The salmon special I had was delicious. Also, love to go for the black bean cakes served with sweet potato fries.
Best Steakhouse In Richmond. Forget Ruth Kris, if you want a fine steak, go to The Border. They have quite possibly the best Filet you will ever get anywhere. Everything else on the menu is amazing as well. They have daily specials ranging from fresh seafood from the coast to exotic dishes you won't find anywhere else in the city. During the evening, they get a nice crowd from the local college and offer music and drinks until 2AM. On Saturdays they have live music in the afternoons. A great place anytime to grab a bite or hang out with your friends.
Serious steak eaters send a Triple Star Rating for this Fan chophouse..
The Scene
Step into a dark masculine-looking bar with food just as good as the beer selection. The Tex-Mex theme carries over from the framed Indian prints and western bar memorabilia to the chalupas, armadillo eggs and huevos rancheros. The atmosphere is laid-back but boisterous; work boots work better here than wingtips. Expect friendly service, but sometimes gentle prodding is necessary to get details just right.
The Food
Despite the informal setting, steaks get star treatment here. Five different versions ranging from a sophisticated steak au poivre to a 22-oz porterhouse are all cooked exactly to specifications. A choice of four homemade sauces (b?arnaise, portabello mushroom, bleu cheese/walnut pesto, house sauce with onions) and four different potato sides (mashed, baked, German potato salad or fries) set the show for serious steak eaters. The border chicken fried steak with cream gravy is a comfy country classic.
Best Steakhouse in Richmond. Still my favorite place for red meat. Take this place over Ruth Chris anyday. Love the atmosphere and the food. Specials are usually delightful and include seafood. You can also have a great meal with just appetizers. Think it is perfect for 2-4 people. Not overpriced either.
