I LOVE THIS PLACE! – My husband had given me a Spa package for Valentine's Day about a year ago. I went and loved it!! The people were professional and the service was top-notch! Even my husband and I went for a couples massage...it was great! When my sister came to visit we went and it was excellent, my teenage daughter and I also had services there during a mother/daughter weekend. So, I have been there a few times and I have enjoyed it thoroughly! You will be PLEASED!
BEWARE! – Went to Lucy's yesturday for a pedicure. They are aweful. The nail tech there was the worst. She was careless and unsanitary and my polish flaked off the next day. I will not be returning.
Editorial Review – Lucy's Day Spa is a full-service spa that offers manicures, pedicures, massages and herbal body wraps.
Not very upscale – Well first of all the first time I went to Lucy's I had a great experience. By it being my first time going to a day spa I was very impressed. I also purchased a spa package and the only thing that I didn't like was my pedicure. First of all the girl who did my pedicure talked to another lady who worked there the whole time about personal things and I felt that was unproffessional. She was very rough with my feet. By the time I got home my toe cuticles were sore. They did however offer me a robe but it was very raggedy and it made feel a little uncomfortable. It seemed to be very thrifty. They actually changed locations. They are now located on Weslyn Drive. I liked her Lynnhaven Rd. location better, it was more suitable for a day spa. Her location now is very small and I too remember the open hallway where I got my facial done. Yes that was not proffessional at all.
Terrifying – So, my husband being the wonderful man he is booked a day at Lucy's Day Spa for me on my birthday. I happen to be a Licensed Massage Therapist so I was psyched about finally getting some pampering for myself. Unfortunately, most people have no idea of what to look for when picking a spa. This location is a prime example of where not to book. The first thing I do upon arriving at Lucy's was run the restroom. Meanwhile, they have taken my husband back for a massage when it was scheduled to be a couples massage. So, I let that one slide and went on and got a half decent pedicure. I noticed one of the nail techs take a pair of clippers that had just been used on one customer, without sanitizing them commence to clipping on another persons nails!! YUCK! After the pedicure was over, the massage therapist took me back to what was supposed to be a room that was actually a corner of a hallway where I would be for the duration of my treatment which was a massage and body wrap! The massage therapist actually expected me to strip with no robe, no disposal underwear, nothing to cover myself except oriental type dressing screens that you could obviously see through. They don't read their VA laws very closely which states that people are not to be exposed in that manner. I also filled out no prior medical history paperwork which is a big no no for massage therapists. These people are breaking laws left and right!!! I hope that this posting will help people with making decisions about where to take there business.
LUXURY SERVICE, FAIR PRICES! – The atmosphere is very upscale, yet comfortable. The prices are not cheap, but reasonable. They offer a 10% discount if you create your own package of three or more services and they offer a mini day of beauty for only $140, which includes manicure, pedicure, facial, and massage! I would let Lucy's perform ANY service for me with confidence! The last time I went I had a pedicure that was done by Lucy herself! She not only trims your cuticles and all other normal pedicure services, but also shaves your calluses too. The pedicure, (aside from polish) lasted a good month+ no cuticle or callus work needed! Be prepared to spend some TIME, (I mean this in a good way!), unlike other cheap salons that try to get you in and out as quickly as possible. She also has a salon located in Ghent. You WILL be satisfied! -C. Dupree
