DO NOT GO TO ANY COASTAL VISION! EVER – I had an appointment at general booth and first the front desk staff was just unpleasant. The people act as though they hate their job and any questions I had got turned down and talked over top of. I felt like a child being lectured and I walked away from the desk dumb founded like what just happened. I brushed this off my shoulders and tried to have a better experience afterwards but it just went downhill from there. I got called back after an hour of waiting.
This is quite crazy especially since I saw the doctor walk in 30 minutes late!! Doctor Breedlove the owner of the entire practice seemed fake as though he was saying things just to please me. I tried to ask questions an never got a clear answer. I was sent to testing and then testing again three months later which my insurance did not cover. Why would the doctors office not inform me that my insurance wont pay for the visit I am currently attenting? I was quoted an extremely high price for glasses and I compared the amount with pearl vision and it was almost half off... There are just soo many things that put a bad taste in my mouth it is almost too much to explain. I would not recomend my worst enemy visit coastal vision. The place is entirely all about making money and has nothing to do with the benefit of the patient.
I have had a number of negative experiences with this office, which unfortunately was the first I tried when moving to this area. First, the office staff at the General Booth office ranges from nice to quite rude. The attitudes of a few staff members here are off-putting, and made me feel as a patient as if I was bothering them or wasting their time with my standard office visit and patient needs. Secondly, the office incorrectly billed my insurance for the max amount they could for my contact lenses, before I ever authorized or requested them to. This was frustrating, and I had to call them on it to get them to reverse the charges. Then, the office refused to sell me anything less than a year supply of contacts, even though their prices were just too much to bear. Following this, the office has also given me incorrect and/or misleading information on how my insurance works, which I only realized once I called my insurance to check. When I ordered contacts from the web, the office verified the wrong prescription and then argued with me about what lenses I use - seriously, I think I should know what I have been putting in my eyes everyday. Their contact lens exam charge is steep in price - more than I have ever seen elsewhere. When I ordered glasses from the office, they ordered the wrong ones, and tried to give me ones without the lens coating I paid for. I had to call them on this and have them send them back to get the correct ones, taking extra weeks to get them. And then, to top it all off, they refused to send me a copy of my prescription when I requested - even though it is my patient medical record. Seriously, steer clear of this office. They have been nothing but runaround and problems for me. If I could have reviewed less than "eh" I would have...
Best eye doctor around town – I had the most wonderful eye exam experience ever at Coastal Vision under the care of Dr Wang. After I walked into the office, I noticed that the clinic was very clean (even the bathroom!), there was a big LCD TV in the waiting room to watch the news, the environment was relaxing, and there was almost no waiting to start the eye exam! In the exam rooms, I had noticed that Sean Connery posters were on the walls, nice 007 classic posters - wonderful use of empty wall space! So, there's some unique elements that make this place different from others which I normally don't see, and eye candy on the walls of each room for my wandering eyes to gaze at all while getting an eye exam! The doctor's assistant was very professional and efficient. After the assistant left, Dr Wang gave me my eye exam and answered all my questions about my vision. I felt Dr Wang truly cared about me as a person/patient as he asked what I do in my job, and told me how I could take care of my eyes while I work! The process for picking out a pair of glasses was smooth for me, and I really enjoyed having all my questions answered by the staff. One recommendation I will make is that the sales lady selling lens and frames could ask what I could afford before starting the process of picking frames and lenses. It would save some time and price guessing for me and other patients. Otherwise, it's a A+ for Coastal Vision in my books!
Super Doctor – My family and I have been going to Coastal Vision that is located on General Booth Blvd since we moved to the area 3 years ago. Dr. Morgan (who is my eye doctor) and Dr. Wang (who my children see) are awesome doctors. They truly care about YOU and not just your vision. They make you feel very comfortable and talk to you like a person rather than just another patient/customer.
I highly reccomend anyone who is looking for a optometrist to go and try out his many locations he has in the area. They also have a great selection of frames that range in prices and styles.
One of the ladies that helps you select your frames needs some people skills. She was not friendly at all. I felt that if I was going to be paying big dollars for glasses I deserved to have friendly service.
Wonderful Doctor! – I just had the best experience with the new Optometrist at the Chesapeake Coastal Vision. He is a wonderful young man that really made me feel like he sincerely cared about, not only my vision, but my general health. So seldome do this generation's young doctors give that level of service and care. I asked Dr. Chamberland for a stack of his business cards to give to all of my friends and family because he is someone I would definately recommend to the people I care about. Beyond that, they had an excellent selection of lenses and frames to chose from. The office is clean and comfortable and the location is very convenient on N. Battlefield Blvd in between Wachovia Bank and Chesapeake Hospital. The lady at the front desk could have used some customer service skills, but the rest of the staff was wonderful--especially Dr. Chamberland. He really makes you feel at ease. I don't normally leave business reviews like this, but I was really impressed with his service.... A customer for life!
