Unfriendly establishment towards people of color – If you are a person of color, I recommend that you do not attend this establishment. You will be treated as a second class citizen in the United States. It is very sad that in the year 2010, this establishment still hires people that have a deep rooted hatred for people of any color or national origin. It is no wonder that our country is going down the drain economically, there are small business establishments such as Manhattan's NY Deli and Pud that only hire people who hate.

How can customers ever enjoy being in such an unfriendly establishment.

Hate drunk driving? Don't come here! – I grew up in NN and was there Saturday night for a bridal shower and bachelorette party. Saturday night, we got nicely dressed and went out for a night on the town. Our party of 4 adult women arrived at Manhattan's around midnight, and were not allowed in because....get this....we arrived in a cab! Apparently, Hampton Roads has gotten so backwards, that arriving to a bar in a cab means you're too intoxicated to go inside. When we asked to speak with a manager, the bouncer wouldn't even hear it. When I was able to speak with a manager by calling on my cell phone, she was rude, argumentative, and accusatory.

I have had my share of big nights out, and Saturday was not one of them. This was about as tame a bachelorette party as one could have, and we were shocked we weren't let in, especially since we saw about 5 other people on the patio who were far more intoxicated then we were accused of being.

Lesson: avoid Manhattan's if you're safety conscious and an adult. We've promised my friend a re-do party to make it up to her, in DC where taking a cab is considered intelligent, the bars are better, and adult women are welcome.

Not the best atmosphere – My daughter and I went there, but we turned around and left. The place is like a bar with the strong smell of cigarette smoke everywhere. This is not a place that is family oriented and the atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired. I cannot comment on the food because we did not order anything.

Good food, slow service – We went there for lunch, the food is very good! I had been there at night to see bands but had never been there for lunch. After our drink orders were taken, it took a rather long time for the server to come back to take our food order even though the restaurant was empty. The ambience left a little to be desired. It has that bar feel so it's not somewhere you would typically think to go for a meal. After our meal, it took a while to get the check. Good food but it's not somewhere I would go often for a meal.

By day, it's a family-friendly restaruant. By night, yuppies pack in for live music and great drinks. – The Scene
Brass railings, a long mahogany bar and walls covered with prints of famous New York landmarks give this place a great feel. Well-dressed 30-somethings head here for live music five days a week. By day, it's a popular, stylish restaurant catering to young professionals from nearby Oyster Point office park. Later, it's a great spot to kick back and catch a game on one of four TVs.

The Food
If you're hungry, grab a snack from the tempting menu. The informal bistro cafe with its umbrella tables is a cozy alternative in the summer. As for drinks, the Williamsburg microbrew is a local specialty, but Manhattan's isn't all about beer: The wine list is light but impressive, and the cocktails are mixed just right. Strawberry daiquiris are made with real fruit and served in healthy portions.
